  1. DIRECTV General Discussion
I have an iPhone but I don't use it for music much.
  2. DIRECTV General Discussion
My DTV account page says I qualify for a free equipment upgrade to the latest stuff. I'm assuming that is an HR44? Currently I have a an HR34 and two H25s. I have the base protection plan but I'm sure i haven't had it for 2 years yet...so I'm not sure why it is offering this now. Anyway would...
  3. DIRECTV General Discussion
Forgot price point - I'd like to stay in the $350.00 or less category. I just need 4+ HDMI inputs and a sub-woofer pre-out for a powered sub I'm still using.
  4. DIRECTV General Discussion
I'm going to be replacing my old NON-HDMI Surround Sound Receiver sometime soonish with a nice HDMI switching unit to make my life easier. Like a lot (most?) of DTV customers I also suffer from audio drop-outs with 5 channel sound occasionally sometimes a LOT. So I'm wondering if some AVRs are...
  5. DIRECTV General Discussion
Well I'm NOT giving up digital 5 channel sound to "fix" this BS.
  6. DIRECTV General Discussion
Is there any reason to continue posting? I mean this is what 3-5 years old and still no solution from DTV? I'm seriously considering going back to OTA and TiVo. I'll miss a lot of channels but I'll save 60+ bucks a month and have clear unbroken audio.
  7. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
I'm going to measure tomorrow but I'm afraid that the best spot for the dish and the best entrance to my house (for the cable) is probably more than 20 feet from the service ground. I read that 20 feet was the limit for the #10 they use for ground wire - yes? I suppose I could drive my own rod...
  8. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
If I have the common point/splitter inside the house (which would be my preference) where would he ground the splitter too? Or would it need grounded? The spot inside I would have in mind has no metal water pipes and is far from my electric service panel.

I'll bring my existing equipment over: Slimline Dish\8 port green label splitter HR34-700 -DECA\ Samsung 40A550 40 inch LCDTV (HDMI) JVC RXD205S Digital Surround Sound Receiver (coax digital) H25-100 -DECA\ Toshiba 24SL410U 24inch LED/LCDTV (HDMI) Sherwood RX-4109 Stereo Receiver (RCA comp)...
  10. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
I could get each piece about 4-5 feet too long....then lop one end off myself. Then all I have to do is talk the installer into putting heads on my short ends while he's here! Then I get some "free" HQ patch cables. :smoking:
  11. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
I was thinking of doing PVC conduit in the walls up to the point where it pops up over the rafters (accessible from attic area)
  12. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
I wasn't going to. The link I posted is for cables with ends already attached at the length you specify.
  13. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
OK...but isnt Digicon what they use? SS says they ARE DTV approved.
  14. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
Well the walls will be sealed up long before I call DTV...and as for the outside leads - you're telling me if he sees digi-con connectors in place he will lop them off and start over????
  15. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
So I'm building a new house (actually converting a pole-barn into a house). I'm gonna pre-wire everything myself for CAT6 for Network and RG6 for DTV. I'm thiking about going with SolidSignal brand Quad Sheilded RG6 with solid copper core...
  16. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
I guess my Wife and I just aren't channel surfers much. We watch a LOT of TV series but that's what we do we watch our shows - the banner has NEVER bothered us in the slightest.
  17. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Yeah as your picture shows YOUR receiver does have a font rendering problem. Mine didn't though....mine is just a sharp as my H25 (which is VERY). The question then becomes WHY only SOME HR34s affected?
  18. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
It WILL work....you just have to hit it multiple (sometimes as many as 15) times to get past the "we are having trouble" message.
  19. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Then...that's not really OFF is it? :)
  20. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
We have had a few lock ups....and recently we missed some recordings. Coming from a non DTV TiVo I would NOT call this reliable. Still waiting on the HDUI as well. And as a 10 year TiVo guy I have to ask -why would anyone want to turn a DVR OFF???????? Seriously - WTF? Why would you do that?
