Are the lnbs on the Dish 1000.2 controlled by DiSEqC commands as they are on the 1000.4? I have a meter that doesn't have DiSEqC controls and I'm having trouble locking onto a signal.

Yes. If you don't have a DiSEqC meter, you'll have to move the meter from port to port, as the 3 ports each default to a different satellite. Same as the 1000.4 LNB.

I have a birgdog 3.0 usb, does this mean i need to test all 3 ports on the 1000.4 to make sure I have all three sats? If so which port on the lnb is for each sat?

No, with a Birdog, you need to use the DiSEqC submenu.

From the Birdog.tv website's Dish Network page:

It also talks about the need to have a receiver connected and supplying power to the LNB when using a DishPro or DishProPlus LNB.

I can't make it out in this pic, but the ports should be marked with their default on each port, just like the 1000.2 LNB. For meters that don't support DiSEqC switching, it is necessary to move your meter from port to port in order to read the different LNB eyes to verify signal strength.

Thanks for the info. I have to say that nearly all of the questions I have had, no matter how obscure, have been answered in this message board.

For anyone else that had the same question I did - I have found the answer to the port question on the 1000.4 LNB

    Port 1 = 77
    Port 2 = 72.7
    Port 3 = 61.5

I have read all through the install manual for the 1000.4 dish and the one answer I didn't find was - what sat does the vital download come from? - One person has told me the 72.7 and some one else told me the 61.5 but I haven'y been able to confirm for sure which one.

Anyone know the anwer to that one?
