Perhaps you could ask gct and doctor j about EPG data distribution ? Your post explaining guide locations is sort of ... wrong and useless.

No, it's correct. The guide data is sent from both the 101 and 119 satellites. The stack plan for the 5lnb dish has 99 and 101 signals together, and 103/110/119 signals together (think about the way the signals are put onto the four cables from the dish). That's why when you are tuned to a 103/110/119 channel (there are no 110 channels) the guide comes from 119 because the receiver isn't seeing a 101 signal. . The SL3 has a different stack plan where the 101 guide data is sent with the 103 signals, the receiver still looks for the 119 guide data but what it sees is the 101 data "masquerading" as 119. SWM dishes have a stack plan where the data always comes from 101.

OK, both - that's what happening.
Perhaps some old FW had the glitch, but it shouldn't suffer if using SL5 and mis-setup a receiver to SL3 - 119W data still coming from 101W, it will not tune to 119W in such case as no logical path to 119W LNBF in SW.

No, the receiver doesn't request the satellite data by position. If the receiver is set to SL3, it will request the part of the stack plan that it thinks will contain guide data from 101. However, the SL5 will take that request and be sending guide data from 119. If there is a problem (bad LNB, no line of sight, etc.) there will be no 119 signal, and guide data will not be received by the receiver.

Portland/Auburn, ME SD locals come from 119. And since they STILL haven't added My Network in HD, this is the only way to get that channel.

Does anyone know how much bandwidth is still available on 119 for Conus HD channels (for the International Channels) ?.... They've added one HD recently (Ch.408), but could more HD internationals still be added here ? (assume the SD locals don't get moved)... Has doctor j looked at this issue before ?...

If you are ok with only getting the hd locals, and no sd locals, then you might be able to get them to switch out your dish for a sls3...

That's correct, this is a mistake many people make (including installers). If you have a slimline 5 and you tell the receiver you have a slimline 3, it is looking for the guide data from 101 when you are tuned to a 103 channel, and it won't find it, because the LNB does not put it there. The different stack plan is part of the LNB electronics, nothing to do with the software in the receiver. Essentially the Slimline 3 LNB is "faking out" the 119 data by putting the 101 signal there instead, and the Slimline 5 LNB can't do that.

Just FYI, I don't think any of the DMAs that were on 119 for SD locals have been changed to a different satellite....

Correct, the ONLY SD locals that have moved or duplicated, are all of the ones on 72.5. There is NO reason for D* to move those SD locals from all those 119 spots, so it ain't happening soon...
