Samsung takes “world's largest storage drive” crown with 16TB SSD PCWorld
They say it's geared for servers, but I'm not to the point of being comfortable with MLC drives yet. I have a few servers with SLC SSDs.
Just don't hit the home button. It will power off, power on, start other apps, and then run down the battery--like the other galaxy equipment...
Well if DirecTV going to stick with one server and minis, they'll need to offer mo' storage choices. While 16TB is overkill, their 1TB can get filled up rather quickly with a home full of different age viewers.
Anything more than 1TB and it really needs to be external and not tied to the receiver.
The article mentioned that Samsung had built a server containing 48 of the 16 TB drives. That's 768 TB,which will probably seem small in another 20 years.
Probably, but from a DirecTV perspective, I wouldn't go to anything really large until it wasn't tied to a receiver.
