Quick question for you. Was Blue's Clues supposed to be on at 9am?? I am doing this off of Noggin so I'm not as familiar with the NIK1 schedule.

Still doesn't excuse a missed recording though.

Cygnus, I'll check tonight and see what my Blues Clues from Monday did. I believe I have that same series link on Nick1 that you do.

Somebody else brought this up (on either this or another thread) but I'll echo it. On some of the shows that have been cancelled because of error 13 but were picked up later in the day, the descriptions were different. The one I specifically remember was the Dora "lost squeaky" episode, my early showing was cancelled but the HR20 recorded it later in the day, yet the description on the cancelled seemed less complete than the one that actually recorded.

I'm at work but when I get home I'll dig a little more on that.

I think so, at least it is in the guide for 9am MDT today. There have been some recent schedule changes, so there are some of the "phantom" entries in the to do list (for 12 noon?, I think), so it is a bit tricky to sort out.

I'm not at home right now, but I believe that the current schedule has Blue scheduled at 9am MDT on 299-NIK1, and 10am MDT on 298-Noggin. Or, at least, that is what the guide said last night.

    raott,

A very common aspect of the missed error 13 programs (not the "phantom" ones) is incomplete program data in the history list. I don't mean generic data, but incomplete. Something we have seen over and over is a missing episode title and year. the program type (Educational, for example) is usually there, and the short program description is also there. Virtually all of my missed Blue's Clues episodes exhibited this phenomenon.

I'm going to move my reports to the thread in the CE area. Might as well make it as easy as possible for the developers to find the information.

Let's hope months of reports have paid off and there really is a serious effort underway to fix the problems.

I checked mine today, and both Blue's Clues at 11AM on 298 and Max & Ruby at 1PM on 298 recorded successfully. Additionally the phantom error 13 for Max & Ruby is no longer appearing. I am going to add one of the MTV shows tonight so that I have more of a sample.

Any missed recordings I get I am going to post to the CE as well, but this thread has been more discussion oriented than the CE thread.

    Lewis,

That's cool...we can continue the discussion here.
Should we start trying to decipher what the additional debugging code means?

We could, but I truly think that what D* is putting here is a dump of scheduler and guide data that is used to validate the episode when the scheduler goes to start a recording.

I personally am curious about why on my box the scheduler was consistently trying to record Max & Ruby at the wrong time every day. This is baffling to me. I really think these guys have done something strange with SLs. I would even go so far as to say they "pin" the SL to a fixed time and day or week based upon when it was originally created, and this creates the weird issues I saw.

    Lewis,

I'm wondering if there is a Time Zone issue as part of this problem.

There may or may not be a time zone issue, but there is definitely a time component to it. As with the Grey's Anatomy problem that happened, it seems that not all receivers get the guide changes simultaneously. With the Grey's issue, users in the Central and Eastern timezones, it seems, got the change as the program was airing. But, they didn't seem to all get it at the same time. Reports seemed to range from 30-45 minutes recorded before the update made the HR20s bail.

As to Lewis' thoughts about Max and Ruby consistently trying to record at the wrong time, I have experienced that with Blue's Clues as well. I think that the idea that the HR20 uses the original program time as some kind of template is spot on. As far as that is concerned, my thought is that it has more to do with schedule changes than a time zone issue, but who knows.....

    Cyg,

I wouldn't argue the point with you as I'm just shooting in the dark. Maybe someday someone at DirecTV will give us a hint.

All still ran well for me yesterday. Blue's Clues and Max & Ruby recorded perfectly. I am adding Pimp My Ride today, and we will see how that goes. In general, here are my thoughts on a couple of the error(13) scenarios...

    1. The one I had was that the HR20 appears to simply be trying to record at the wrong time. In this simple case it appears to pick the show up at the right time as well so it is pretty benign.

    2. The one that Ken and others have been hitting just is strange. I have a general thought that the error(13) partial recordings triggered for me. I can recall when the HR20 first came out having a constant problem with shows recording half way becauase they overlapped with a later show that had a higher priority. I wonder if the partials are an artifact of this, and if the non-recording 13s are similar??

I hate to say it, but I wonder if D* might have fixed this with the latest release though?? Since last Friday I have not seen a single error(13) anywhere in my history...

Ken...thank you for documenting this problem. Your efforts from the first thread made this issue almost disappear, but recently I have noticed the Error 13 show up again. I just like to note that Wonder Pets on 299 displays the same problem on the R15. All showing the -13. Episodes will show up in the ToDo list, but do not record.

I'll add Wonder Pets on 299 to my list.

I haven't posted in a few days because I've had nothing to report.
Every scheduled episode of The Hills, Blues Clues (on Noggin) have recorded successfully on both the R15 and HR20.

    Lewis,

It hasn't been unusual during the past few months for a show to start recording properly for a week or so and then have problems again. For a time The Wiggles wouldn't record at all. No To Do list...just ignored...then it starts again.

I have been tracking two HR20s since the past CE and both are still experiencing the (13) error. I have posted the information in the CE forum.

The Hills is currently causing the most problems for us, but that thread seems to indicate a widespread problem.

    Mike,

When you have a two-year-old and he can't watch the programs he wants you gotta take drastic measures. There were people here that denied that the problem existed...it did/does and my son made it quite clear to me it HAS to be fixed. :)

We're starting a shift in programming he's now seems to be less interested in The Wiggles and wants to watch Clifford The Big Red Dog and and Fireman Sam. Hopefully, those shows are on DirecTV's "approved" for record list...I guess we'll see.

Cyg's child was also instrumental in pushing this effort. I'm sure he had the "pressure" to get these recordings right!

I hope by the time our kids wants to record Baywatch 2017 someone has this DVR technology a bit more reliable. :)

You DO NOT screw with a two year olds access to his preferred programing. This is very dangerous. You will pay. ;)

FWIW, with the exeption of the missed error 13's on Monday, my Blue's Clues have all successfully recorded so far this week.

All episodes of The Hills and Blue's Clues (on Noggin) have continued to record successfully. Wonder Pets on Nick1 added today.

Blue's Clues has been pretty good lately. The Hills is kicking off all sorts of errors in my history file (see the reports in the CE section).

I don't think the problem is fixed though...we've had good streaks before and I'm seeing errors on shows like Man vs. Wild as well.

On a positive note I received some confirmation that DirecTV is paying attention to this thread. So...another note in a bottle tossed in the sea has been received....so now lets see if they come rescue us.

Cyg you want to be the Gilligan or the Skipper?

Blue's Clues, Max & Ruby, and now Pimp My Ride have all been working properly for me with no error(13)'s....

I actually would love for it to break, but I guess I'm happier if everyone's machines are behaving better.
