My kid sister was our remote control long before those decades.
And she was probably honored by having the responsibility.
My first cable remote control had a cord on it for connecting it to the Theta Cable box. Certainly made it easy to find if misplaced. Who knows where the kid may have wandered off to.
We had one like this when I came over to NA.
My older brother, sister and I were the remote control at some point. Then we got the cable box with the dial on it, my dad set it up on one of the end tables so he could turn the channel without having to get up. Then we got one with a remote around 1985.
My first VCR, a top loading Fisher circa 1981, had a wired remote. The only functions were play, stop, fast forward, rewind.
