    ? ? ?

Are you celebrating the opportunity to PAY EVEN MORE money to Directv?

Don't all of these channels have the same shows just a different times?

So what do I need 2 more HD PPV channels for? In over 10 years as a D* customer, I've never ever watched a PPV event. Heck with the PPV HD channels..get rid of some of those and use the bandwidth for actual HD channels, like giving us Fox News Channel HD!

Video-On-Demand to Hit $6 Billion USD Within Five Years

It's not going away, guys. It's growing. Obviously a lot of people like it and use it. To put it in perspective, that's as much revenue as Molson/Coors or Verizon generate in a year. It's certainly not going to be ignored.

Okay, so you don't like their beer . How about as much revenue as these companies:

    Bed Bath & Beyond
    Starwood Hotels
    Beckton Dickinson
    Mattel
    Owens Corning
    Harley Davidson
    Oshkosh
    Black & Decker
    Whole Foods
    WM Wrigley
    Symantec
    Clorox
    Hershey

Or how 'bout double the revenue of these companies:

    McCormick
    Tiffany
    Electronic Arts
    Coach
    Expedia

You make an excellent point, Directv would not have all of these stupid PPV channels if people didn't use them. Still I want more HD that is not PPV!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I do too - but I appreciate the PPV options too. If I had to choose... full time FNC and Travel before any more PPV, hands-down.

I still dont understand why so many PPVHD channels, D* must know their customers are not that dumb, and hopefully soon they will add more national HD channels.

I've been pretty much a "lurker" on this site, but enjoy it VERY much, as I've been a D* Sub since 1994 & had a BUD before that...

While I too am dissapointed that we've not seen a bunch of new national HD from D11 by now, it would be pretty safe to assume that the Directv techs have their hands full preparing for week 1 of the NFL Season. This will be the first time they've put the HD games up in MPEG4. Not to mention the fact that CBS is doing all of their games in HD, for the first time...

As some have suggested some of those HD PPV's are probably placeholders they can put on-line in a hurry Sunday Morning if they have trouble...

Once they've got Sunday Ticket organized, I'm sure we'll see those HD channels everyone wants...

What exactly is Directv's strategy here? Piss off the customers as long as possible, then laugh at us when they add 3 channels we've been asking for and we go nuts with ecstacy? Bas-TARDS! :eek2:

Well, if PPVHD would add closed captioning, then they can draw a million +/- more viewers that are Deaf to earn some more revenues. Come on, resolve this CC issue before adding more PPV's. I have ordered about 3 HD PPV's in hope of they're finally captioned but the latest, the cc lags by more than a minute from the dialogues. I DO want to see some PPV's but for the time being, I'm avoiding it and going out to pay a bit more for some more clutters in my room (DVD's).

more then that some of them are used for part time over flow sports channels and part time RSN over flows. So when they are not need for sports they are PPV movie channels.

    It is always about money:

Even if they are not the majority, Directv must make a lot of money on the people that do pay for PPV.

Are you going to switch to Dish or Cable because they only added 3 HD channel? Directv is betting the answer is no. I think they know the odds and are confident that we may complain but we won't switch.
