I got a one-time discount of $100 about a month ago when I first called to cancel ST, then I called back a week or so ago & got the $20/6 months discount...so in the end $80 for ST with all games in HD works for me, I'm happy :)

You may be right, but what I don't get is that they have always been able to differentiate between 206 SD and 206 HD. If a subscriber doesn't have HD he won't be able to tune in 206 HD, even with an HD receiver. Seems like with ST they have always had to ability to have, say, 705 SD and 705 HD without the dash numbers

Why did they choose to do it with the dash numbers?

because people with an HD box without superfan that hide their SD duplicates in the guide or direct tune a channel in the past would have gotten channel not purchased instead of the SD channel ..... now since no more Superfan it is not an issue if you have an HD box you have HD access to the channels you are getting in SD ...

I would love to have ST and have called twice today to get a better deal on and have had no luck. I called this morning and the CSR told me all she could do was $299.93, which I obviously turned down. I called back this afternoon and was transferred to promotions and mentioned I had seen where customers were getting ST for less than $200. The CSR thought I was crazy and told me there was no way anybody could get ST for that price. I didn't argue, but I knew she was wrong. Since I already get the Free HD for 24 months she said she could not authorize anymore credits to my account. :nono2:

I'm currently getting the HD credit and the NFLST credit. If you really want it, here is one more thing to try. Call and see if you can get the $299 offer in 6 payments. Then call back a couple days later and say that your significant other said it was too expensive and to cancel it. And let them know how much you were looking forward to watching it. Once you have it, they probably will show that they can give you additional credits. Then hold out for the $20/6 mo credit. If it doesn't work, cancel it.

Thanks, I may have to try that. It's really aggravating how you have to play their game to get these discounts.

I called in twice, and they wouldn't give me a discount because I'm already getting one applied to my account to cover the cost of HD. So I just canceled Sunday Ticket.

Your welcome, hope it works! I don't look at it as playing a game, but an opportunity to reduce my cost just by making an extra effort. Even if you spent 2 hours making calls to get this and end up saving $120, that's $60/hr. I'd like to be making that rate where I work.

Same here. I called last season for the 1st time ever to get a deal, due to the economy. I called ready to cancel at that time but I got the standard deal last season $20/6mo. I called a few weeks ago and got the same deal for this season, plus 2-yr free HD.

I don't like to make the call but it's worth the time & effort for me to do so.

For those that haven't been able to get a deal, I'd keep trying unless you are one that resides in the category that has reached the limit on credits in your acct.

That's one reason that I usually save my credit requests for the ST credit. I guess it all depends on one's priorities.

Just out of curiosity what is usually the limit for credit requests in a certain time period? I am a couple of months into the 24 months free HD credit. The only other credit I can remember getting is when I switched to paperless billing and got a credit off my bill for a period time. I don't remember how long., but that has been over for months.

It varies by account and its been discussed on this forum in the past. We suspect its based on things like programming you have, payment history and if your near the end of a commitment. For instance, here are all the credits I'm currently getting that total $45/mo:

07/06 HD Access Credit -10.00 Credit
07/06 AAA New Customer Discount -10.00 Credit
    07/06 AT&T Customer Savings -5.00 Credit
    06/26 07/25 NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2010 You Save $20 for 6 Mos -20.00 Credit

I'm aggravated because I've been with them for over 3 years. I have the Premier package, NBA package, and MLB EI. I've always paid on time without any problem and three months ago I upgraded a receiver which means I'm into another 2 year commitment with them. It just really made me mad today that I send them over $140.00 a month and they wouldn't even consider giving me the deal everybody else is getting. Anyway, I appreciate you guys letting me vent.

Seems like they shouldn't have had a problem giving you that credit, with all that you purchased. You may just have to get the right person. And there is a limit, its just hard to figure out exactly what it is.

It might make you feel better to know that I got denied for the 24 mo's of HD credit during the lifetime promo they had last mo. I already had that HD credit for 12 months for calling about NFLST last year. Although they noted on my account when I called and told me to call back when the credit ends in Sept to request it. Will see what happens. Also, last year I couldn't get the $20 for 6 mo's because of all my credits. Thats why they gave me the $10 for 12 mo HD credit instead.

Just be persistent and try what I suggested. I think it will work.

I believe they have the replays of all games, each play and only the plays each week after Sunday. That is every game. Dont be a hater. If you dont want it then dont order it.

I was able to get the $120 discount and I paid for the 'To Go' option. I was also allowed to keep my 'ST Only' setup so I am a happy camper!

So here's my experience... I called last week when the premier package offer started; I got this offer a couple of years ago as an existing customer.

I only speak to retentions and they told me to call back closer to the end of the month to give the system a chance to offer that. All she could offer was $20 for 6 months and I had to pay for the TO-GO option. In the meantime she told me I could have RedZone for free so I took that.

I called back yesterday and now all I was offered was free TO-GO because I already had $10 for 12mos and FreeHD for 24mos. and they removed ST because they added RedZone only. I asked why and they said thats all the system is offering and there is nothing more she could do. I told them I would be willing to move elsewhere after being a subscriber since 1996.

After several times being put on hold and being told she can't override the system and she could not explain why my offer got worse within 5 days of calling. I asked for a supervisor and she told me they couldn't do anything either because they can only offer what the computer tells them they can.

After more back and forth I insisted on the supervisor and she came back less than 30 seconds and said we can add ST back and give me a one-time $120 credit AND FREE TO-GO!!

All in all I'm VERY happy but the CSR's seem to be holding their ground more and more these days. It's a game I've played with DirecTV for years but this one seemed to take the most work. It also looks like they are standing firm on the no premier offer to existing...

Man, I can't get anything out of these guys. It really sucks being a new customer for something like this. The woman would not budge off of the "early bird special" of 7 payments of $44.99. Plus I have had no luck getting red zone separately either. Looks like I might have to wait until next year when I have less rebates on my account or something.
