My attempt at a discount turned out weird...the nice young phone rep told me that since I already subscribe to Premier and am getting the Free HD for 24 months, all she could do was give me $5 off Starz, Showtime, and the sports package for six months.

So that's $15 off per month instead of the $20 most of you are getting, and I'm still paying for ST To-Go. And, of course, if I drop the movie channels, I lose the discount.

I know the answer to this is "Call them back!" but I really dislike making calls like this, especially when it would only net me $5 per month.

You just never know what you're gonna get when you call them, like the last box of chocolates I had.

I called, was offered $10 off for 6 months. Told the CSR others were getting $20 per month off. He said fine, $20 was the best he could do, so worth pushing even with the same CSR

I guess I can justify this post into the 2010 NFL ST Pricing Thread. I found this page interesting [link]. It shows all the various providers of NFL ST in other countries. And if you click on their logo, you can go to their website and get pricing.

For example, in Canada one provider has this pricing that I wish I could get here:

Tried today and they wouldn't give me anything. I spend $130/month and been a customer since 98 and I'm out of contract. It really peeves me they wouldn't give me any discount.

I don't understand how or who they determine are eligible for credits, but I called to cancel today. I really needed to cancel because my wife recently lost her job.

The CSR offered me the $20 off for 6 deal, and further sweetened the deal by offering me an additional $125 credit to the account. Assuming all this goes through as promised, ST will cost me less than $60 for the year!

Thanks DirecTV! Maybe I should have asked them about giving my wife a job?

I canceled ST back in February & had added & removed different movie packages several times. Each time I made sure that ST wasn't there. Well, today there it was w/ a payment of 49.99 due on the 1st.
I had actually planned on renewing & I had made a deal w/ my wife: my birthday & Father's day present this year would be ST. I had tried back in July to see if there were any promotions for ST, but all I had gotten was the "early bird special offer" which I politely declined, so again I was quite shocked to see it there this morning.
I called up & said "cancel ST", I was sent to a nice CSR who said that yes ST was on my account. She told me how they are including Superfan this year which makes it a better deal, etc. I said I understand, but just can't swing $300+ this year. She then said that she could give me the $20/6 month deal. I then asked about ST to Go & she said that would also be free. I then asked about the sports pack & because I'm already subscribed to Starz I got it for $5 a month for 6 months. She also gave me the free extra hd channels for 3 months (which I've never watched but wth).
All in all, a very productive phone call w/ a competent & professional CSR.
A question for all: I signed up last year for the ST deal so this is my 2nd year w/ D. So when I canceled ST back in February, I wasn't thinking about leverage for the next year. Is it best to keep ST on automatic renewal & negotiate from there even though what I did worked out this year? (maybe I got lucky this time).

I have tried 3 times to get a deal on Sunday Ticket and failed to get anything all 3 times.

I recently got a $20 per month for 6 months credit on my account because DirecTV had over-charged me $40 and I caught it.....so whenever I called to get a deal they cited that as a reason I couldn't get a deal

I finally called up someone and fully explained why I got the credit (DirecTV had over-charged me and I caught it) and asked them if I really couldn't get a deal b/c of that and how I had paid full price last year.

The guy could not have been nicer and said he would give me a $100 credit to my account if I ordered Sunday Ticket....so I did it

    Very happy

I called up to complain about them offering new customers Free Premier for five months and the high cost of ST (six payments of $49.99). Told them I was switching to VF. Here’s the deal that I got:

$20 off for 12 months for Premier
$10 off for 12 months for HD Access
    Free NFL2GO
    Free DirecTV Connected Home Upgrade
    Free Installation
    Free HR24-500
    Free AM-21

I had to recommit for 2 years. No problem there.

I called in May and I was told the best they could do was 6 x 10 off ST. I called in June and they told me the best deals were in August. So I called yesterday and she told me they could not add another 6 x 10 to my account but she could just add a flat $120 dollars in one lump sum. So my 6 X 10 are still in effect and I have my $120 credit in my account recent activity. So therefore Sunday Ticket is going to cost me $118 overall. Not too bad.

    10 X 10 for refer a friend
    6 x 10 for ST discount
    10 x 24 for Free HD
    now the $120 credit

Sad part is my air went out in my car and it was 110 with heat index.

It's the owner's fault for wanting new stadiums every 20 years or so. They pay the players millions and on and on.

Just got my deal from DTV after saying cancel at the frist promt, then retention at the second promt.

Friendly male CSR comes on the phone, we chit chat a bit, told him I wasn't happy about my ST pricing. This is what he worked out for me.

    the final deal was,

$20 off for 6 months on ST

    Free HD for 12 months

    Free To-Go

$5 off a month for 6 months off Sports Pack

I can live with this

I was given the $20 off 6 months ST last month when I called. Worked fine last month.

This month I was charged the full $49.99. I really hope I'm not going to have to call every single month.

On the lower part of your bill - did it show a credit this month?

That is how they show it on the bill - the regular charge on the upper portion, and an offsetting credit for the $20 near the bottom. If that is not there - it would seem you will need to call...

Check your online recent activity. Was there a $20 credit prior to the bill date?

Were you given the $20 credit on the date you called in and then took that credit on your prior bill instead of paying the total on your prior bill and waiting for the next bill to be issued where you then would've had your $20 credit to offset some of your $49.99 charge.
