I got $20/6 months credit when I call last month before the lockout was over. I was told at the time to call back after the lockout was over to ask about additional credits.

Called back today and their first offer was $10/6 months for ST, so I stated that was still too much. Immediately after that I was offered additional discounts of:

    $20/6 months (ST)
    $20/6 months (base pkg)

Bottom line: I'm being paid $6 a month to have ST. I love my service rep as well as my DTV! :D

Premier customer and auto-pay since 2008.

Anyone else received a phone call to get Sunday Ticket for free???

I was not even looking at getting NFL Sunday Ticket, I never had it.
This morning I received a call from Directv telling me they want to offer me HBO+Showtime+Starz+CineCinema for free for three months. I am like "ok" then she said she wants to offer me NFL Sunday ticket for free also. She explained me that if I switch to Choice ultimate, $5 extra a month then I will get NFL Sunday Tickets completely free. She explained they just want to reward their customers. I have been a customer for only 14 months???
I accepted the offer. She said at the end of the football season, I can just go to my current package / current price.

Yes, this is true to a point, but one must also remember that the NFL takes a percentage of those accounts that have ST, even the bars.

I can only tell you that the NFL takes more than 50% on each ST sub. I'm not going to mention the real percentage here but is more than 50%. So, although Dtv is making money off the ticket, it is not as much as you think.

Taking 50% of those big accounts is still a boatload of money. I assume you're familiar with those ST commercial account prices. Fire occupancy of smaller bars is still pretty big and makes ST pretty expensive to them. Big places, like casinos, pay big!

Wow, let me just say thanks to all of you guys who posted advice. As a long time D* customer, I have never really asked for much. I called today, and received Sunday Ticket and Red Zone Channel at no charge. I had to haggle a little, but after asking nicely (was originally offered half price), the CSR gave it to me. Thanks again.

I have tried a couple times, but could only get the $39 for 6 months price. Still a little high for me as I already pay for the premier pkg

Looks like the price this year ranges from $1000 for an FCO up to 50 to $53,000 for 10,001+. Wonder if Ruby Tuesday, at one point their biggest customer gets a deal.

I just called and after a considerable wait, the "best they could do" was $20 off for 6 months and a one-time credit of $50 - a total of $170 off the "early bird" price of $324 = $154 net price. I had them make a note of it on my account and need to decide if I want to take it not... I think I probably will.

So, I called today and spoke to a Hispanic speaking lady in retention. Told her I cancelled ST last year due to the price increase and saw that new subs and movers were getting it for free and what deal could I get. First offer I almost fell out of my chair :hurah: (5 payments of $53.99 a month). Wow, $65 off deal...I said no thanks. So, I asked for a better deal and she came back right away with the best she could do is 4 payments of $39.99 ($159.96). So, just over 50% off. I said I'd think about it. Seemed really easy for her to go down to half off, so I don't think anyone should get an offer for less than half off if you call in. I will call again early next week and see if I can get a better deal. Probably would take this deal if you twisted my arm.

Yeah, call back. But is not necessary to wait that long to call back. Just keep calling until you get the deal you like.

1st phone call got $200 off ST base price, and then got an additional $180 in future credits. CSR also threw in a few premium movie channel offerings Free for 3 months.

Very happy with the deal, I was actually thinking about canceling so this will keep me with DTV for awhile.

I went the route of calling and asking about canceling DTV altogether, not just ST. I politely told the CSR the money is tight right now, I just had another kid (which I did - bonus pts if baby is crying in background). Also, if you're near the end of your contract or recently out of it, I suggest starting the call with "Am I still under contract, do I have to pay $300 penalty for breaking my contract, do I get to keep my DVR..." I figured this let them know I'm serious about canceling, then I followed up with the "yeah i got DTV for ST in the first place, but wife will kill me if I spend $300+ on football...." I also offered to pay 1 time lump sum if there was a good discount available.

I also called on a Monday (daytime) as a previous poster on here indicated the CSR's get a new bank of credits each week to play with and they typically exhaust them later during the week. Not sure if that's even true, but figured that approach was worth a shot.

Thanks to DBStalk and everyone who posted on this topic.

I called in yesterday and asked about getting a discount on the Sunday Ticket. I told the rep I got 20.00 off for 6 months last year. First the rep offered me 10.00 off for 6 months but he said if that is not enough he can check for more. (As if he wanted to give more but had to go with low ball offer first) I advised him 10.00 off still makes the Sunday Ticket pretty expensive. He then offered the 20.00 off for 6 months. No hassle. Could I have got more? Maybe but I think 120.00 off 323.94 is fair.

My Second call to Retention, Had the usual offers given to me as everyone else had.
Just as I had offered to me on my first call last week.

End game, after a nice conversation (20 Minutes) with this very friendly woman in retention.
I was really going to cancel, if I didn't get this deal :p
So after not getting it originally, Told her I would have to do without watching my NY Teams.
She said to hold on a minute,
then she gave me Free ST, Free To Go (Had to ask for it)
And she credited back to my account the first payment for ST.
Asked me if I was happy with that :p I said extremely :p
And the call ended after a Thank You Very Much from me :p

(xxxx= end numbers of my RID Cards)

AFter reading this thread, I (11 year customer) called retention.

Time Warner was in the neighborhood last weekend with some 29.99 for 6 month deal for all their premium channels as well as paying for up to 200 dollars for any contract breaking fess I may incur. That last part was interesting so when I got the CSR on the line, I just started askign all the specifics of what it would mean to cancel - such as charges, status of my account, disconnect date, etc.
He started asking all the usual questions. I said nothign about the ticket. I told him my bill was way too expensive, kids back in school holidays approaching etc. When he offered 5 bucks off HBO, I said thanks for the info and that I would be giving that deal to TWC when they called back this morning.
At this point I havent asked for a thing and I think I established in his mind that I was seriously considering the switch. Thats when it started rolling in.
First he offered me free ST righ toff tha bat. I was all smiles inside but graoned a little and said Im a mild sports fan(haha yeah right) and my real goal was lowering my bill.
    So, he took off
    $10 a month for 24m for auto renew (240)
    $10 a month for 12m off base pkg (120)
    $5 a month for 6 m off base pkg (30)
3 free months of WHole home (9)
hbo and cin free for 3 months

$400 in credits and free ST in an 18 min call? not too shabby!
CSR William will be getting a nice letter to Directv on behalf of a "saved" long time customer (as soon as the bill comes)

    thanks friends....Go Packers!

After not getting a good enough deal on ST, I cancelled it two weeks ago. They didn't refund the 53.99 they charged me for the first month of ST before I cancelled. So I called this morning for the refund. Then, I told them I was ready to switch to FIOS and I just wanted to see what they would offer me before I officially cancel. At first they offered me half off ST, but that wasn't enough. They asked me what they could do. I told them honestly, I didn't know that there was anything they could do...I'm ready to switch. He then offered me ST completely free and the 20 off the base package for 6 months. That was enough to keep me around, at least until ST expires...then I still might switch to FIOS. We'll see, but I was happy with my deal today.

I just got NFL ST for 1/2 the regular price, 4 x $39 payments, + they gave me a 24-month Verizon bundle $5 savings, which effectively takes me down to $34 x 4. Bring on the season already, we're ready to get our game on!

I got this by calling the 'Retention' dept. and saying i was getting offers from Fios & she said i see you've been w/D* for 5 years now, here's what i can do..........

I've been a customer for only a year and had ST last year. They offered me the season for $160 (4 x $39) and ToGo for $20 after $30 one time credit. I think that is fair since I am still under contract. Next year I'll push harder since I'll have more leverage.

Called retention this evening, got $20 off each sunday ticket monthly payment (5 payments) and $20 off my bill for 6 months and free to go. However, when I check my recent activity it shows this:

    08/29/2011 XXXXXXXX1028 NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2011 - Charge $0.00 $0.00
    08/29/2011 XXXXXXXX2447 PLUS HD DVR - $20/6mosBasePkg ($20.00) ($1.20)
    08/29/2011 XXXXXXXX2447 NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2011 - $20/6mosNFLSave ($20.00) ($1.20)

    08/29/2011 XXXXXXXX1028 NFL SUNDAY TICKET - Charge $0.00 $0.00
    08/29/2011 XXXXXXXX1028 NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go 2011 - Charge $0.00 $0.00
    08/29/2011 XXXXXXXX1028 NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2011 - Charge $66.99 $4.02

So do I get an extra $40 off for 1 month after the 5 monthly Sunday Ticket payments? If so then I got Sunday Ticket and To Go for just under $100. If not, it's still $135.

Just called and got $20 a month for six months off, plus then, without asking another $20 for six months, and then an extra $20 credit on top of it. A total of $260 in credits. More than I figured. I'm a 7 year customer.
