I had been meaning to call to get a new receiver for our new upstairs HD set as well as MRV, and I did a few days ago. Had to pay $199 plus tax for the MRV (as well as resetting the 24 month clock), but got another HDDVR with install for free, as well as free ST. So, had to pay a little but not too bad. :)

Dang these deals people are getting sound great, but I've been a customer for such a short time I'm sure I won't be lucky. Maybe next season :)

I'm not sure if the longevity has much to do with it. If you want ST I would call and see what you can get. At the very least everyone here has been getting the 4 payments of $40. The worst they can do is say no.

I dunno I've seen a lot of people saying that DTV considered them a long time "valued" customer and gave them free ST. But still i should at least try and see what I can get.

    Thank, I appreciate it.

I am a new sub as of Feb 2011 and all my credits have expired. I am going to try again tomorrow.

have been with D since 97 and this is always one of my biggest gripes, why cant they just be consistent with their offers? They pay millions for the rights to the NFL, so do we really expect they are going to give it away to everyone for free? They offered it free to new subs when it was a lockout which made sense. They offered it to me at $200 off but thats not free. then you come on here and see free offers to existing customers which is puzzling. It not like you can call up and say you saw it on DBS forum. typical directv

I agree and disagree. From a business point of view it would look better if they would be consistent. However, from a personal point of view, I always seem to get good deals, that I know if everyone got I wouldn't be able to.

I have to admit, it is fascinating how they are very inconsistent and its almost like a combo of luck and getting the "right CSR" My call basically involved me mentioning that FIOS recently came to my area and I was unfortunately thinking of jumping ship due to their bundles (but that I really didnt want to leave)

Thanks guys. Called Retentions, mentioned new customer deal and that I have a friend that's a current customer that was able to get it for free, so I was calling to see what they could do for me. He reviewed my account and said with my status, he's able to take care of the package for me. I have Premier Package. Customer since 2007, but since I cancelled for a short period they see me as January 2010.

    Thanks again guys.

I called today and was initially offered $20.00 off for 6 Mos, then i gently pushed back and said that I was reading that others were getting it for $160.00 and she said that she was going to check on something. I then mentioned that I was a Premiere channel package subscriber and she noted that I had been a "loyal customer" since 196 and so I got the whole package for free! So I think the key here for discounts is time and packages.

    Can't beat that!

Wow, I didn't even know they had DIRECTV back in 196, is that AC or BC? Actually, that is a great deal and you're right, you can't beat free!

First state to the computer "cancel service." This gets you through to retention. Called and asked for any offers and received $20 off for six months. Called back 5 minutes later and mentioned free NFL Sunday ticket for new subscribers. I asked what she could do for a long time customer and got it for free. Remember.....say cancel service for retention, be nice, ask what they can do for you, sit back, shut up, and let them talk.
