Did you simply ask for the new customer offer? Did you have to do any other negation? What level of service do you have?

I got it free as well, all I did was I said I saw the ad and was wondering what my options were. I have Total Choice Plus. Been with them since 2007, but am actually under contract.

I simply asked them why a new customer deserved the offer more than I did. I have Total Choice Plus with HBO and Showtime. I haven't had Sunday Ticket since my first year with DirecTv.

I haven't had season tickets since I got D* either. I've had Sunday Ticket ever since so no need to buy them.

I'm not arguing that. I'm responding to the comment about how this is a great way to treat their loyal customers. Charging long-time customers higher rates because they don't know they can call in and get discounts doesn't seem to be all that customer-friendly to me.

I am 11 months into my two year contract, and switched to D* last year for the ST promotion. I have the Premier package, with the HD extra pack and also subscribe to NHL Center Ice. I called and got ST for $160 (4 payments of $39.99). Considering I'm still a pretty new customer, I am ecstatic with the savings, and love D* more every day!

$250 credit plus $10 per month credit for six months to include the To Go features. Paying a total of $73.94 for Ticket and To Go. I've been a customer since 2001 and have Total Choice and HBO, and I've had Sunday Ticket for years.

Wanted a new HD DVR got it free, also wanted the SWIM & Whole Home + cinema Kit upgrade & got it for $99.00. Then she gave me $5.00 off for 24 mos to cover the cost of the upgrade. Got NFL ST for 130.00 after a 1 time credit of 193.00 & the To Go for free, Then called back & got another $20.00 off for 6mos so 10.00 for NFL ST. A good day as far as I am concerned. DTV member since 1996 with NFL ST every year. New HD DVR install on Sat 13th.

I've been with D* for 10 months, Choice extra, hd, whole home dvr service. My attempts for ST discount as follows:
    Last week
    #1 - 25 off for 6 months...said I'll think about it.
#2 - one hour later...csr no discounts available
#3- called back...csr no discounts yet call back in august
    Today
    #1- sorry nothing available
#2- called back....nothing available, but you can get a free hddvr. Thanks but already have one.
#3- changed strategy, waited an hour and called doing the cancel route as all other calls but said any discounts for exsisitng customers to offset cost of ST. CSR, sure let's see what I can do...I thought finally. First, ST to go free, the 25 off for 6 months...me great, she says hold on there's more. I'm thinking maybe the big one time credit others have got...then she says ok how about......beep beep, my phone disconnects. Great thanks AT&T!!!
#4- called back...offered a one time 75 credit....no other offers and no notes on my account about previous offer...thanks again AT&T.
#5- one hour later...same speech any discounts to help me. Sir, you are already getting 20 off for 6 months, 5 off for 24 months, hd free for 24 months (already had), free ST to go... I said what??? I didn't know that, played a little dumb. She says I'll give u an additional 5 off 6 months and 3 off for 3 months for whole home dvr service. I said great thanks so much!!!
All posted to my account already and a total of $279 in credits; not including HD credit.

Advice keep trying as others have done so too. I'm happy, although not the best as some have got but I won't complain. Funny thing is these credits are considered programming discounts. If one were greedy which I'm not. I wonder if a call next month or closer to season and try again to get another more specific credit applied to ST might work....interesting thought!!!

So today I thought what the hell, lets see if I can get any additional discount for ST. Yep, I know got a little greedy!!!
First call, cancel route; spoke to a nice CSR and ask if there were any discounts for ST other than the auto renew price. She says let me look....well I see you're getting several discounts already...
(ME) Yes, you've been great helping me out with lowering my monthly bill, but ST is very expensive this year.
CSR...I understand, the economy is tough so let me see. Well, I see you've called several times already about this.
(ME) Yes, and I was told to call back in August....not sounding good thus far.
CSR, it seems that there is no charge listed for ST on your account, its shows a zero balance. It looks like you are getting it free this year, but let me double check....placed on hold for 5 minutes. Sir, this year it's free for you and we understand with the economy and the lock out this has been an issue so we are giving it to you for free.
(Me) Wow, this is great, are you sure. CSR, yes sir I checked with my supervisor and its free. I'll make a note on your account and if you see any charges call us back and we'll correct it for you.

I don't see it yet on my account, but my next bill cycle is a few days away so I'll double check. It pays to keep calling regardless of past discounts. Hell, I just got the other discounts on 7/28.

Free ST......Yay....fingers crossed I have no issues!!!

Yep, it says I'm authorized.....but it said this prior to my phone call today. Not sure if they had already given it too me for free. If so, I didn't know. My account shows it as ST $0.00 charge. I wonder if this is all due to the marketing and confusion of the commercials being advertised. Regardless, I'm a happy customer!!!!

    Called today.

First Offer: 50% off Sunday Ticket - 4 payments of $41.87. I told her that was still a little too high.

Second Offer: 50% off Sunday Ticket and $20 Movie Channels credit for 6 months. I asked about the ST2Go and was told it was $49.95 extra. I told her I really wanted that but couldn't pay that much.

Third Offer: 50% off Sunday Ticket ($39.99 for 4 months), $20 Movie Channels credit for 6 months ($120), Free ST2Go ($49.95), and offered to extend my current $24 monthly credit for Choice Extra package for 6 more months ($144). She also told me to call after 6 months and get the movie channel credits extended again.

Thank You Directv. I'm very happy with this deal.

    Called today.

First offer: Early Bird Special 6 payments of $53.99 = $323.94. Asked for Retention

Second Offer: 50% off Sunday Ticket = 4 payments of $39.99. Asked about the Red zone Channel only option - had this last year. Was told that this is only for customers that are currently or were subscribed to NFLST last year and were going to cancel service completely because they could get Red Zone from other providers.

Third Offer: 50% off Sunday Ticket and $15 credits for 12 months. Total cost if I add these together = -$20.04. I tried for fee To Go - no dice, but I am very happy with the final outcome. Worth the 20 minutes on the phone.

Called and stated "CANCEL" twice. A very pleasant CSR helped me.

    1st offer - $60/6 months discount
    2nd offer - an additional $20/6 months

I then stated I saw the current promotion for new subs that was for free. I stated that I have been a sub since 1998 and a ST sub since then also. She said she would put me on hold for a few and get back with me.

A short while later... BOOM... :D FREE NFL SUNDAY TICKET! :D

    Politeness Pays :)
