This is the song storm that never ends,

yes it goes on and on my friend.

Some people started singing shoveling it, not knowing what it was,

and they'll continue singing shoveling it forever just because,

This is the song storm that never ends,

I got some friends in the Boston area and on the way to the Cape. I wished them well, and to not overstrain themselves on snow removal.

Pasting we got yesterday was worse than predicted. Local landscape looks like "Rura Penthe". My plow and snow blower are going to get a workout this morning. On a positive note we did not experience any snow fade during yesterday's storm.

Does the infrastructure in the area have the capability to handle all the snow if there is a fairly quick melting?

We've had 74" since the week before the Superbowl. (A record for a month, and we still have 18 days to go.) If it melted all at once, yes, there would be flooding.

I don't think there is infrastructure anywhere that could handle a quick melting of that much snow.

I just looked 10 days out, and we don't have any temps forecast above freezing for the entire period. (Storms predicted for Thursday and next Tuesday  )

There is a school district just north of Boston that just cancelled classes through the rest of this week. Next week is school vacation, so those kids won't be going back until the 23rd. The fear there is the flat roofs on most of their school buildings. The weight of the snow may be too much for some of them, and to remove it will take a lot of work and a lot of time.

There have already been reports of collapsing roofs in our area.

Here's a place I used to live, makes an interesting comparison with the current little bit of weather going on in the NE:

Here in the OKC forecast to be sunny and 70 today. :)

Over five feet here in southern NH in the last two weeks. This makes for one of the three worst winters I've ever experienced since moving here in 1974. There was '78 and it's great blizzard that happened after already serious snowfall.. I think it was 1994 when we were having almost weekly "storms of the century" events and now this..

    My arms are killing me...

I drove to New Hampshire last week and stayed overnight. It was snowing again that morning, and so while my car was warming up, I started brushing the snow off it, and by the time I had finished brushing it off the rear window, I had to brush it off the front window again.

Then whatever you do, don't try to fly to Vegas.

They were showing homes that had snow completely covering up one side of a house all the way to the roof.

Whatever's causing those storms to squeeze by us is a Godsend. Now if the ice would just melt.
