So you got the new sub rebate after all. I'm sure this included 2 year extension. If you think about it they still saved money over a new subscriber because no new equipment fees and no installation fee and happy satisfied customer instead of someone looking to leave at first chance.

Since AT&T aquired DIRECTV I've been paying my bill at our local AT&T outlet store. Today when I was paying my bill the clerk asked me how long have I had DIRECTV. I answered nearly 21 years. He then said if I add AT&T wireless to my account I would get Free Sunday Ticket for two years. I declined stating I never bundle. However, this may be a good approach for those still looking to get a good deal on Sunday Ticket.

That sounds tempting but I've heard nightmares about what happens when they allow ATT to bundle. I've been getting a 26% discount on my ATT phone bill from a job that I left 10 years ago. I know they screw up this good thing I have going if I dare tried bundling.

I agreed to a 12 month contract. I was 3 weeks out of a previous 12 month contract.

Called today to cancel because my bill was $114 mo. Spoke with a great CSR named "Mandy" for 38 minutes. I got $35 off every mo. for a year commitment plus Sunday Ticket Max for free this year. My contract was up tomorrow and I took the deal. Wife is happy I got the bill chopped $35 and I am happy to have SDTMax for free this year. Also, Mandy was the one who first answered and never had to go to retention or elsewhere. I felt fine with the deal, so I took it and activated it.

Question: On the TV is says buy for $0 and to only be able to watch on this TV. Will it work in the whole home as I have Whole Home DVR service?

Thanks to everyone for the all of the great info on this board. :righton:

Just throwing this out there. I was told I was getting NFL Sunday Ticket Max for free as well and when it came down to it, I was only offered the upgrade to Max. I had to fight like heck to get it for free. So make sure to check your recent activity to confirm. Congrats to all who are getting it free this year.

Just completed my annual ST call for discount checks.

My acct status at time of call:

    - Cust since 1999 in good standing (as stated by DTV associate)
    - Premium Sub each year
    - No active credits at time of call. I rarely call for any other discounts during the year as ST is my discount goal.
    - Rec'd ST (reg, not Max) free last year w/1 yr contract. Expired 08/18 .
    - I called 1st time on 08/19; received offers similar to other forum members; no free ST offer, monthly discounts. If I recall, my best offer at that time was the $35/mo off monthly bill. I'm not certain I reached 'Retentions/Cust Loyalty' at that time.

    2nd call today Fri 09/02 U.S. time:

I said "Contract End Date" at the voice menu. I'm not 100% sure I reached 'Retentions/Cust Loyalty' Dept but based on my result, I'm almost certain I reached them.

I received ST reg (not Max) free this season with another 1-yr contract. I'm pleased as that's my annual goal for 2 reasons:

    - I'm staying with DTV; no plans to switch providers.
    - I don't use the ST Max features.

This year was the 1st time in several years where I had to call a 2nd time to get the offer I was seeking. I'm not sure I reached 'Retentions' during the 1st call but I'd decided to call again later at that time as I didn't receive the free ST offer.

Best hope for others calling for discounts.

I had pretty much decided to go without ST this year (signed up for Sling TV for the NFL Redzone).

However, I decided to price ATT wireless and when I called in I was offered the following, since I was a DirecTV subscriber:

Free NFL Sunday Ticket (this year only; not sure if it is Max)
    Free MLS (two years)
Free MLB Extra Innings (two years)

It was actually the last item that made it worth my while! (I got a good deal for MLB this year, but I'll take two freebies!) I had to sign a 2 year contract with ATT wireless, but I'm bringing a paid-for device so I will be paying about what I was paying with my previous cell provider.

I know that someone above mentioned this, but didn't say anything about the other packages that were included.

It appears I received additional credits I wasn't aware of at the time I called earlier. I looked at my recent activities & saw this:

I think I recall the CSR mentioned something about qualifying for additional discounts but wasn't sure about the meaning of it. It's been a while since I've looked at how credits/discounts are listed but I think these are additional discounts.

I'm not sure but that may be true. It's been a long time since I've looked at how DTV lists discounts on the "Activity" page of my account but it does appear this may be the case.

I'll know for certain at my next billing cycle on 09/14 .

My first call was almost 2 weeks ago, hour on hold, didn't talk to anyone.
Second call, a few days later $25 off a month, $9 off NFLST a month. Said, no thanks.
Third call, last Monday, $45 off a month, no NFLST discount.
So today I called that "Make It Right" number I found on another board, even though I never said I planned on cancelling. I told him I was looking for about a $40 discount and would pay half for NFLST Max.
This is what I accepted with a 1-year contract (I was out of contract): Swapped programming, from legacy Xtra Choice Classic to Choice, got a $47 a month discount, so I'm paying $59 a month.
FREE NFLST Max. Like I said, I told him I would play half, but the rep said, no, he felt bad about that first call when I was on hold for an hour, so this was to make up for it.
And the cherry on top of the sundae?
    $200 Visa Gift Card.
I told him how much I appreciate what he and DTV did for me today and he said for the money I've spent with DTV for 17 years, it's the least they can do.
This was the best call I've ever had with DTV.

So I got the $50x12months off last month y signing a 1 year extension, and decided to call back and see if I could get some more discounts, just because the CSR before said I should. Today I got another $37 off *6months ($9 off STMax and the rest off HBO/Showtime/etc). Over $800 off this year, my best year to date!

I didn't do as well as usual on ST discounts, but it might be because of my recent free upgrade. Not real disappointed, since I went from an HR34 & HR22 to an HR 54 & 4K client for free. And the speed increase has been better than any discount I have ever received!

On the discounts I received, when my NFL ST Max renewal started, I called to check. And I was only able to get discounts of $20/mo for 12 months and a $9/mo for 6 months. Then called back and asked to remove Max, and got Max for free. So basically I received enough credits to get NFL ST + Max for free.

I was told to try back in a month, to see if any other discounts are available. Since I had a bunch from last year that just ended and may be affecting what she could offer. Going to try and get a deal on NHL CI and will see if I can get any new discounts then.

No it wasn't, although the rep said it was, I think he was just saying it as part of the script.
