If I remember last year this happened also. Once the Blues VS Penguins game starts the other game will come on. It has something to do with ceremony for in Pittsburgh.

Getting it fine here. If you are having issues, go to your on line account, and refresh the receiver you are trying to watch the game on.

The most infuriating thing about airing games on the NHL Network is the stupid ticker on the bottom of the screen. News tickers are beyond outdated in this day in age of the internet, mobile devices and immediate access to information. It takes up screen real estate, is distracting and just overall useless. On top of this, the NHL Network on Directv has some kind of nasty compression on it destroying whatever quality the feed had. on a 65" TV the upscaling looks absolutely horrendous. To circumvent, I've modified my DNS servers on my Apple TV to route through a different country so I'm not subjected to national blackouts on my NHL TV streams. One day they'll get it right.

+1 on those crawls on every channel. But the NHL Network makes it even worse by taking other broadcasts and squashing them. To many, it's not visible but to me, it's just annoying as hell.

The NHL Network was a great idea that went horrible wrong when it comes to live broadcasts. Especially infuriating is that they don't show in game intermissions going to their own studios instead.

Well, the good news is DirecTV got the NHL feeds from Sportsnet correct last night so that we got to see both games. They also didn't cut off the feed of the Leafs Jets game right away so that the programming between that game and the Flames Oilers game was shown.

The bad news is the continuing paucity of Canadian feeds for other games. Looking forward for the next few days there are precious few Canadian feeds. I guess that's why we have NHLTV included in the package. Looks like I'll be having to use the NHL app on Roku a fair bit this season.

All in all, the more things change the more they stay the same. We should all just get used to the fact that hockey is a fifth class sport with DirecTV.

    Reynoldsburg...
College football and Sunday Ticket on the weekends don't help. They squeeze the feeds available at the end of baseball season and clearly do the same thing early with hockey (and, I'm sure, with basketball). Not a fan of that either but I can't really blame DirecTV ... they only have so much bandwidth to play with.

Sunday Ticket might have an impact, but there aren't that many NHL games on Sunday afternoon. DirecTV is pulling these feeds from the same source as InDemand on cable is and they have a lot more to offer. See their schedule here.

Directv may not be as willing to pay the bit fees for all of TSN / rogers feeds. and Philadelphia RSN feeds are limited on Directv. But they do have WGN HD (on games with duel feeds)

A few interesting things in the InDemand schedule:

InDemand dedicates 12 HD channels to CI, compared with 19 for DirecTV.

They picked up the pre-game show from SportsNet last night before Leafs - Jets. Sure wish we could get those.

On occasion, InDemand picks the Canadian feed and does not carry the US feed (Rangers - Leafs and Wings & Sens, Saturday, Oct. 7).

Like DIrecTV, InDemand sometimes omits the Canadian feed.

    Finally,
TSN now has the rights to 50 regional telecasts of the Canadiens. I hope DirecTV is able to receive those feeds from TSN2.
They are not taking tonight's game, and the next games on TSN2 will be on the 17th and 18th v the Sharks and Kings.
TSN2 also has their game v the Hawks on the 10th, but that is an NBCSN game.
    KyL, any thoughts?

As of this moment DirecTV's schedule isn't even listing the Winnipeg vs Calgary game at 10pm on Saturday. Totally typical if depressing.

Please forgive a question on a subject that seems obvious to everyone else. If I understand previous posts correctly, as a CI subscriber I am eligible to access NHL.tv using my DirecTV credentials. However, when entering my DirecTV login and password at NHL.tv’s sign in page, I repeatedly receive an “invalid user name or password” response. I contacted NHL.tv support but they never deigned to respond. Any clarification of this matter greatly would be appreciated!

Try MLS Direct Kick which offers only one feed for each game even if DirecTV has the RSN feed for both teams available...... and no online streaming included.

Winnipeg Jets - Calgary Flames now appears on 786 and 786-1.
It replaces what was up earlier - The Flyers feed of Flyers - Ducks.

769 and 769-1 still shows the 2nd half of the HNIC doubleheader: Edmonton v Vancouver.

All this changing the day before is just another reason to use season record for teams on genies. It’ll pick it up one way or the other.

My experience was that I needed an NHL.com account first, then activated NHL.tv using the activation link: NHL Center Ice Activation

And another reason D* needs more channels for the NHL.

Maybe its time for D* to rearrange the sports package range, either move them into the 800's and move the music channels into the 900's (I don't think there's anything left in the 900's?) or start using 4 digit channel numbers.

    7100 - NFLST
    7200 - MLBEI
    7300 - NBALP
    7400 - NHLCI
    7500 - college sports

Thanks to those who posted on the mysterious process of logging in to NHLTV. I managed after logging in to NHL.COM and then getting to a screen with a choice of providers, as others have said. It took me so many tries that I'm not sure what did it. I'm actually posting because yesterday I couldn't watch either through the Roku or Kodi (on Linux), but today I am able to see last night's games on the Roku, although I haven't been able to get anything on Kodi. For the Roku I just logged in with my NHL username and password, and didn't have to go to any further authorization. So if you're wondering, it looks like it will work on Roku, which is important to me, as the browser video quality that I got yesterday was pretty bad.
