Only if one is a Canucks feed and the other is a Jets feed.
A couple of thoughts:
I don't recall an XXX-1 feed ever being SD before.
I don't recall 2 different feeds being shown on the same channel numbers like XXX and XXX-1.
^Well that’s my thinking as well with sub-1 channels all being the HD feeds but it’s DirecTv so you never know.
If you pull up NHL on the score guide app, it only shows 771-1 for the game. The guide might be an error.
Ahh OK. I hardly use that app but I see it.
I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have had NHLCI for 20 years. NHL Network is not part of my "package" which I think is "Total Choice." Every year when NHL CI has become active, I have been able to watch/record NHL Network. It comes in at the beginning of the season and goes off when NHL CI ends. Three times in the past 4 years, though, it has required me to call D* to be able to watch it normally. The same thing happens every time. NHL Network remains "grayed out" in the guide, but if I tune to it, I can watch it, and if I set up a recording for a future program, it will record. The problem is, if I hit record while watching a program, it won't start recording it. Now, this is not a very significant issue, but if there's something on currently I want to record, I have no way to record it.
The previous two times this happened it took a while to get to a supervisor who was able to "add that channel to your package." I don't know how they did it. This year, though, no one seems to know how to fix it. I spent two hours on the phone two days ago and another two hours on the phone today finally speaking to a supervisor who said he had worked for D* for 4 years and "I can help you with anything." He couldn't. Multiple receiver resets, equipment refreshes, and even his supposedly resending every receiver authorization for that channel it is still grayed out in the guide and I still can't hit record without getting the error "Your receiver is not authorized to record this programming." If I set up a future recording, it gives an error message "this channel is not in your package, and the program may not record. Record anyway?" So for the programs have recorded.
I know it's not a major issue, but it's a pain in the ass, and for some reason no one seems to know how to fix it at D*. And I'm waiting for the time when the future recordings will no longer work. The latest supervisor told me he would send it "the broadcast center" for resolution.
If anyone has been in this situation and has any idea how they or someone at D* fixed it, please let me know.
I have an HR44, HR23, and HR 24, and it is happening on all of them.
Well, I just checked, and now NHL Network is "white" on all my receivers, and I can record it on all three. I have no idea what happened or why it is now working, but I am happy it is.
It probably just took a little time to refresh on the receiver after the supervisor reactivated it.
3 days???? While I was on with the supervisor, he reactivated my service a few times, had me reset my receivers twice, and also had me send a "refresh receiver" signal from the web. None of that did anything while I was talking with him, and he expected it would. He gave no indication it might take time, i.e. days, to activate the service.
Oh, and by the way, being a Rangers fan I recorded the 700's channel that specifically said "Rangers Broadcast" last night in their game against the Devils. I did it on 2 receivers. Both recordings said "Rangers Broadcast," so I know I didn't make a mistake, but the broadcast was the Devils' broadcast. I know I should just record MSG directly on 634, but there is actually no way of knowing if the Rangers were 634 or 635 or Devils 634 or 635. I guess D* didn't know either.
When I read your post (posted yesterday) it sounded like you called them yesterday. Didn't realize it was 3 days ago. But like I said, it sounds like it took a while to "kick in" the activation.
I also no longer have the NHL channel greyed out. I did switch to the higher package for a couple of days in between but I have since gone back to choice.
Maybe they finally figured out that NHL Network is supposed to be part of NHL CI for everyone and officially made it part of the package.
No Leafs feed for tonight's - Wednesday - home game vs Detroit.
This is the first time I can remember not getting the Wednesday night National telecast from SportsNet.
I know there are several NBA games that are not straight remaps, but there's not one spot for the Leafs feed?
The NHL games were bumped to SN1 and SN 360 because of the ALCS and NLCS on the main SN channels.
If the NLCS makes it to Game 6 and the ALCS makes it to Game 7, Sportsnet isn't airing any NHL game for Hockey Night on Saturday. Just CBC and City airing Leafs @ Sens at 7pm game and CBC airing Min @ Calgary at 10pm, while SN1 has the Sixers @ Raptors
Next wednesday is even more screwey, the World Series on the main SN channels, NBA on SN1 and NHL on SN 360.
As usual, thanks KyL, for the heads up on SN's channel juggling.
We have received SN1 feeds for CI in the past, no?
Usually they only use them it if it's the only feed available for the game. i.e. a Canadian team vs a Canadian team or a Canadian team vs the Flyers.
Luckily we can use the NHL app.
why sportsnet and not CTV where they can simsub the fox feeds.
For one thing, CTV hasn't owned Sportsnet since the early 00s when they had to sell it in order to acquire TSN, you're thinking of City. And because City has other commitments during Primetime involving networks other than Fox. They simsub Dancing with the Stars and Modern Family from ABC, Scorpion from CBS, and The Blacklist from NBC, while other shows like Black-ish, The Middle and Speechless air several nights after ABC shows them. Their Fox simsubs are limited to the Sunday night lineup minus The Simpsons (which Global has), the Tuesday night lineup, The Orville on Thursdays and Hell's Kitchen on Fridays. They also have Cancon requirements from the CRTC where a percentage of primetime has to be Canadian. (Not to mention City dosn't have national coverage so it wouldn't be ideal for the world series) They would also have to air Fox's broadcast in its entirety in order to simsub including all the in studio segments, SportsNet just shows Fox's and TBS's play by play while the SportsNet Central hosts handle the wraparound coverage and highlights.
CTV does do the simsub thing for Thursday night football though on CTV Two, although the side effect is they can't simsub NBC's late night lineup on Thursdays while CBS has Thursday Night football since CTV Two still has to air their late local news after the game before they show NBC's late night block. (It also has the side effect of Global showing Colbert and CTV showing Corden before CBS does on Thursdays) Once NBC takes over on Thursdays they can simsub late night again.
