At least the new rules this year allow us to see the full broadcast via NHL.tv or, as I discovered yesterday, Center Ice. This is a major improvement.

So, who's the yahoo in charge of watching CI games and then shutting down the signal?? On Sat night, they cut the 7 minutes b/t Game 1 and 2 on 769 - normally they just leave it up as Don and Ron ramble on for a few before Game 2 starts. Then, the wizard shut it down during the only commercial break in After Hours. Missed the second part of the Neal interview (tho since I recorded with an extension, I have 32 minutes of the DTV logo...)

This has been a long standing issue with DirecTV. And the big problem is that there is no rhyme or reason to it, particularly on Saturday nights. There are always, yes ALWAYS two HNIC broadcasts on CBC one at 7 and one at 10. They are almost always on the same DirecTV channel, so someone at DirecTV master control who knows nothing about hockey just randomly pulls the plug on game 1. This week they did in in mid sentence! It's hardly a major crisis, but it sure is annoying!

The idiocy that D* has when it comes to the sport of hockey has no bounds.

I think I may have mentioned it here before but it's worth rehashing. Two years ago, I wasted 15 minutes of my life posting in the D*/AT&T forums asking why D* did not update their CI home web page at the time, as the inclusion of the NHL.TV package for CI customers was nowhere to be found. I myself was a former NHL TV sub and found out about it here first at DBS Talk. Why in the world would DirecTv not advertise this on their CI web page attracting more customers?

I posted this question on their forum:
ME:Why Hasn't DirecTv Updated the NHL Center Ice Web Page? NHL TV now comes with it!
Does DirecTv realize it might be losing potential subscribers to the NHL Center Ice package? Some hockey fans choose to subscribe to NHL TV because that service provides ALL feeds to the each game, unlike DirecTV Center Ice. But thankfully DirecTv Center Ice subscribers now have access to NHL TV for FREE, just like Extra Inning subscribers have free access gto MLB TV.

Unfortunately, DirecTv is keeping Center ICE/NHL TV a secret. The CI web page mentions NOTHING on NHL TV being part of the package. And if you call DirecTV and ask a rep, they think you are talking about NHL Network. The reps are clueless.

So WHEN will the Center Ice web page be updated?

AT&T Admin:Thank you for the feedback. You are correct, NHL Center Ice does include the NHL Network during the season at no extra charge! When you scroll down in the article it does state that the NHL Network is included at no charge (at the end of the first paragraph and again at the bottom).

ME: No. NHL Network is NOT the same as NHL TV! You people don't even know what services comes with the package you are offering!

Anyone else use Apple TV for NHL TV replays? The 10 second skip option on the remote app is gone. Was there last season (I think).

Correct, after you told them about it. :)

Mine still works. On the ATV remote, lightly touch and hold your finger on the right side of the touch pad, that should bring up the progress bard with a 10 second arrow, then press the touch bar to advance 10 seconds.

As alluded to in a previous post, DirecTV's inability to show dual feeds for Canadian teams on a consistent basis remains a serious problem. There's no point flogging a dead horse on this one but it sure points to the value of supplementing NHLCI with NHLTV.

Yes thanks, but I can’t get used to the physical remote. It’s hit & miss when I try this method. It often goes back to the main menu or switches to the multiple games option. That’s why I don’t use it and prefer the app.
There is/was a 10 second button on the app interface but it’s no longer there. Still appears for other apps though.

I agree, it is hit or miss. The implementation of FF is terrible with this app, I can’t even get my Harmony remote to do FF on it, which works fine with other apps.

Sounds to me like we need to email the NHL.TV support team on this one.

    Thursday, October 11.

    12 NHL games.

    6 games with Canadian teams.

    1 Canadian Feed ( Jets ).

I called into the magic 800 number a few days before the season started and mentioned we don't get all the Canadian feeds - and none of the Montreal Canadien feeds from TSN2.
After reminding her NHL.tv has every feed, she credited back 1 of the 4 payments of $39.99.
    Might be worth a call.

Still not sure why DirecTV only allocates 19 channels to CI when Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays usually have more than 9 matches.

Why the credit? They added nhl.tv without charge so you have access to all the feeds.

I think sometimes they just throw money at you to shut you up and get you off the phone. I must admit it's worked several times for me.

    Hi, trh.
During the call, I told her another rep previously suggested I call in closer to Opening Night about CI discounts.
I mentioned CI's lack of many Canadian feeds, while
NHL.tv as a standalone with all feeds was only $139.99.

She then said there were no CI discounts available, but said she had authorization to credit back my first payment which had been paid in my prior month's bill.

When she did, I wasn't going to ask why. But, if I had to guess, I'd say they have "credit" algorithms based on a customer's total annual spending, auto bill pay, and length of service.
And, based on those, I guess I still had a bit of "credit" available.

Or maybe Grafixguy is right! :)

By the way, in my last two calls, they have specifically mentioned auto-pay as a positive when reviewing my history.

I was just going to ask that same question, any guesses as to why there are no game today?
