Another point is made above. When you look at these “this day in sports” deals, they are about the World Series.

Which now is still two weeks away. Additional rounds of playoffs, and now they want 2 out of 3 for their stupid wild card, are pushing the sport too deep into what in the north they call “winter”.

Yeah, next thing you know the WS will be in November. Ever play ball in cold weather? Not fun. This keeps up and MLB is gonna have to start playing the WS in domed stadiums.

2020 MLB opening day is 26 March. Not very warm that time of year either.

Well, the Yankees just finished beating the devil out of the Twins and all I can think of is how can the Rays beat the Astros? Yesterday they had Charlie Morton on the mound and today...TBD? Joe TBD? Good thing about it is Verlander is pitching and won't be able to start the first game of the next round of playoffs. So, the Yankees would face Cole in the first game and Verlander in the second game. With the Astros at home. In that loony bin. OMG. Go Rays! Please...

Blue sky, no wind and the temp at 72 degrees. That's my idea of perfect baseball weather, kinda hard to see that in March.

Probably won't see that good weather in late October either. You won't see blue skies at the World Series at all unless they play in the afternoon on weekends.

As long as the Astros don't make the Series I'll be happy. But if they do I'll root for them.

Well, this isn't working out as well as I thought it would. I can only hope the Rays get past Cole and the Astros tonight. IIRC the next round of playoffs starts tomorrow. I'd like to see a battered and bruised Rays team in that game. But if Cole and Verlander are iffy for the first two games that might do away with the Astros' home advantage. I'm beginning to think Kevin Cash is a genius. These are two teams I'd rather not see in the playoffs. Let's see what happens tonight.

The Yankees won the first game in Houston. Surprised me. Then they lost a close second game. Now I don't know what to think. I do know Cole goes tomorrow night and I also know good pitching stops good hitting. I have little hope for that game.

Meanwhile, the Nationals look like world beaters in their playoff games, so far. Seems like all these clubs are well stocked with pitchers, wish I could say that about the Yankees. All I heard were raves when the Yankees signed Ottavino and all I've seen is a guy with some wicked stuff that can't seem to control the location of those pitches. He came in last night and damn near gave it all up...again.
