But not automatically. If I'm watching live TV, and I have two things set to record, the DVR will change the channel at the appropriate time and record both shows.

For the most part, that only works for the 'cable' type channels as the broadcast channels don't tend to repeat in close.

As it sits right now, I don't miss many recordings on the 'cable' type channels, but often you can't look in the todo list and see that it is in fact picking up a later showing. Very minor irritant.

Great ideas. I for one would love to have a disable option for the "Active" button. I cant tell you how many times I've accidently hit it and lost a paused show.

I know I have. Dark room using an actual DirecTV remote that I only use on occasion.

No real interested in any of them for me. A lot more things I would want instead. And for #3, anyone that has an issue with recording conflicts and you don't have an HR34, you might want to consider getting one.

No to the first two especially the 2nd I hate the lights at night plus no real reason for it and one would just clutter the guide.

Now 3 should already be implemented but yes please implement it.

On the first one, I get the reasoning behind it, but I think there are other ways to accomplish it that your specific suggestion. As it is, I don't like it at all. We don't need to clutter the guide with superfuless words that are the same on so many lines in the guide. Maybe when you highlight the channel if you press info when it pulls up the channel list guide, you could have an option on the right side to switch to the vod page.

I'd be fine with the res idea, but I really don't think its necessary. I doubt many people change resolutions or use native. I sure never will.

The third one, I have been saying forever that they should do that.

I'd also like them to make the red button work like the record button in the guide, only immediatly pop up a box asking which dvr to record a show on, just like you see when you press the record button on a h24.

I also think that when you select something to record one time, if there is a conflict, one of the options should be to record it at a latter time if there is a showing latter, and show the latter time and episode to record as the first option, record to another unit as the second option, and then the option to cancel one of the other recordings.

I could have sworn that at one time that was an option? I remember getting a message like that one time when I had a conflict on a "cable" channel.

The show I just hit the record button for is not in the series list. What priority does it have? Obviously the default is none compared to things in the series list.

If I knew one of the shows I have been prompted to cancel is in the series list and had another showing that would be recorded later (and knew also that there wasn't yet another conflict at that time) then it would work as it should. I don't know that looking at this screen. But the software could bloody well figure it out.

What if one of the shows I'm prompted to cancel is not in the series list - today it won't record a later one.

In short, the current method of conflict resolution is about as dumb as it can get short of saying "can't record due to conflict".

That sounds oddly random. I would think you would want to be able to insure that a particular program records on a particular DVR as opposed to the other way around.

Having the option to set a recording to take place on a different DVR or the one your on allows you to insure where something is going to be recorded. And if you choose a different DVR and there is a conflict, it would tell you so, just as the h series does now. Things you obviously don't understand because you don't use them.

I don't understand because it doesn't sound like something I'd want to do.

Then again, I have external drives set up as libraries and I'd want to make sure that a particular program always ended up in the appropriate library; something the DIRECTV Plus HD DVR doesn't make easy.

    1. Bug fixes and/or code optimization, before feature additions.
Do not release software to customers, NR, that has more bugs or performance problems than current code, just to roll out a flashy new feature. :nono:
    2. remove features common to other A/V products or features that don't add value.
      • MediaShare: It's dysfunctional and slow. I'm sure removing it would free up space.
In my case I have 3 other ways in the A/V cabinet to do media share: TV, Bluray player and MacMini...
      • YouTube: Watching lo-rez, pixilated videos on a large TV doesn't add value…
    3. If you (D*) can't add new functionality w/o a performance hit on basic DVR functionality, then maybe it's beyond the capability of the hardware (or programmers) and should not be added...

... as far as the OP suggestions
    1. I can live w/o
    2. I run my DVR with the rings off or on dim. The main, most used, HR20 is behind doors. I'm not a fan of front panel light sources.
    3. I would use that one. Can it be added w/o a performance hit? ;)
