311 needs service call

    I am visiting friends in Missouri with Dish. Their 311 went loopy this morning. Won't acquire the satellite signal although their 622 is fine. They called Dish and they want to charge a service call and will charge them up to 150 for a replacement.

    Unfortunately, they dropped the wire service plan recently, if that would even help.

    I am a DirecTV customer, and my recourse would be to get to customer retention. What do Dish customers do? I want to help them as they are happy with Dish except for this problem.

    BTW, the 311 has been doing a reboot of sorts (some satellite update thing) every 2 weeks or so since they got it in October.

    Call DISH back, re-activate the DHPP (wire service plan), wait 15 minutes, and then call in the service call. If they want, they can disconnect it after the service call.
    If it has been an issue since it was knew, and you want to pursue that angle, send an email to ceo@echostar.com.
