I do like vivid, I'm not at all unhappy with the PQ on either of my sets.

Thanx. I've been writing about these sets since I got the first one. Doesn't really matter what the feed is, they just put out a really good picture. I do have an 8000 as you do. Best TV I've ever had. I do have issues with it, naturally. I'm beginning to think I might be a tad hard to please.

My wife has been saying that to me since I was a Drill Sergeant way back in 1971!

The Vizio M60-C3 (which is the 2015 version I believe), does not upscale basically at all even though it may be advertised as doing so. I am using C-Net's precise settings for picture. Perhaps I should make some adjustments. Technology changed for the 2016 models. When I run Blu-ray's through my upscaling Sammy BD-Player...huge difference on the TV. Unfortunately, it's not doing any upscaling for me on channel 106 for most live sports programs.

I will add.....the horse race last Saturday used a combination of cameras. Some shots were from normal 1080 cameras, but you could definitely tell the truck on the infield running parallel with the horses had an UHD camera on the back. The picture was stunning, and really a cool and different video angle perspective on the race...something we usually do not see.

Amazon shows a French import Blu Ray of Open Range that at least one reviewer says is region-free.

45 bucks! Not gonna happen. Appreciate the suggestion. Now, somebody explain why there's a "French" BD and not a reasonably priced BD. I did read the offering and it appears to be in English. So...
