I currently have 3 Hr23 hddvrs. And a slimline 5 dish. Im thinking of upgrading to 4 k. Can I keep my HR 23 recievers in my bed rooms and just upgrade the main reciever thats gonna be on my UHD tv? Or will I have to change all.

How many tvs do you have? You can do whatever you want but....

A good way to upgrade your system assuming you have three tvs would be a genie and the 4K mini which you have to have and keep one HR23 IMHO. (although if the installer offered to get you an HR24 for the 23 I'd take it in a heart beat). That setup would actually give you one more tuner than you have now... You'd lose nothing....

And I'd put the HR23 in the least used place.

I didnt know if the new set up or lnbs would work with the older recievers

No issue with HR23 in the mix. They just need an external DECA to be networked but that's not an issue if it's not already done.

Keep in mind that for 4K, you need an HR54 and a C61K OR RVU TV.
So that's two costs for boxes/receivers per month.
In other words you are adding two additional receiver costs per month if you don't remove something you already have.

The 4K config from Directv isn't just one fee since the HR54 can't output HDMI in 4K compliant modes.
