So, Mark. When is the software release notes page going up?
Maybe when real life slows down enough that I have a free couple of minutes to do something about it...
I just got the update on my 508 yesterday, 10/5 (or at least thats when I noticed it).
Is it possible that the new software could cause me to lose about 30 hours of recorded programs on my 510? Something happened between last night and tonight. I remember having about 40 hours remaining last night, and tonight, I have over 70. There doesn't seem to be any method to what was deleted or what was retained. I checked and I do have the new software, but I can't be sure when it was installed.
That hasn't happened for a very long time, but it has happened in the past. A couple of years ago, it happened to about 1 in 10 users when new software was downloaded.
I know this maybe premature to even post. While watching local tv last night my 510 in the den pixelated and indicated error lost signal. I quickly checked my signal strength on transponder 5 on sat.105 (provides my locals) and it indicated a steady 74. This signal strength is normal for my area. I received p223 this past Tuesday. I really hope this is not a sign of things to come. Had no problems with either of my 510's prior to p223. I maybe overly sensitive but with what happened to My 301's I had for over two years which were very stable, they frequently pixelated and froze after their last update which was never fixed. I will be watching a good bit of tv this weekend and will advise Monday.
I hooked up a 301-10 receiver for someone and it kept geting the acuiring satellite signal screen off and on having the P226 software. I thought the receiver may have been bad but I guess after the P229 software came out it worked fine, they said they had no problem since.
Significant problems with this new release on my two 508s:
1. I have had several DVR (used to be PVR ) events fail to record. I have *never* had this happen prior to this new release.
2. I have encountered a pixelated screen several times, esp. when trying to FF or REW live programming. FF and REW functionality then ceases to work altogether. Reboot required to correct.
3. Yesterday afternoon I came home from work to find the red record light on, even though I had no DVR events scheduled. My wife said the light had been on all day. Interestingly, after a reboot to correct the problem I found nothing was actually recorded.
#2 and #3 are an annoyance, but #1 is unacceptable, and it's unfortunate I can't fall back to the previous stable (at least for me) version of the SW.
I too have problems with this update...I set up a recording and it didn't record. Now I am getting there is problem with my multi-switch nag. When I reboot, its gone. Never had a problem with the previous release.
Hello guys I dunno if this is another problem with the new SW upgrade, but since our 510 took the update no matter what channel we watch ie video, audio, etc the screen saver kicks in. There is no certain time that it kicks in either. It can be 15 minutes into the program we are watching our could be 3 hours or heck sometimes it don't even pop up. I never noticed it till the p2.23 came out. If there is a way to disable the screen saver I would love to know how... CC
No issues here... works fine, (so far)
Since the update I have beein getting a black screen about once a week which requires me to pull the card and replace it. Once I do that I am good for another week or so...
I didn't have any problems other than when playing back what I had recorded my picture would jump forward about a half second. It did that frequently through out my recordings.
Since taking 2.23 I have noticed that my 501 tends to refuse to power down more often. At least twice a week I am having to unplug the dumb thing to get it to turn off. Other than that, I have not noticed anything else.
It's already there though not updated just yet, see 501 Software History. I'm also trying to do it for all receivers, those pages can be reached from the Dish Network Receiver Software Versions page or the info page for each receiver line.
I would like to add another problem since the upgrade. An event records, then when I select play, it does nothing . It's like there was only a few seconds recorded even though the duration says 1:30min.
Fixed ?? Do you mean that when you select a channel in the Showcase, you can now pause it? If not, it's still worthless to me.
A more current event that will benefit from fixing that feature.
(Yeah, it would be nice to be able to pause - but at least the 6 pack works as well on a 5xx as it would on a 3xx, not worse!)
I was talking about item number 13 where the release fixes the audio in Dish Home. During the Olympic showcase, if you moved between the six windows, the audio would change depending on which window you where on. This feature didn't work on the 5xx DVRs, but it did on other systems.
