What Jim5506 proposed is precisely what I ended up doing. I'm also a new Dish customer. I have 4 HDTVs, and Dish would only lease me up to 3 receivers, consistent with their new policy. I originally ordered two solo HD DVRs (612, I believe) and one HD receiver (211/211k). After more research, I decided to change my primary receiver to the 722k Duo for the newer platform and bigger internal drive, since there is no additional fee. I also realized that I didn't really need two sat tuners on the other TVs, so I dropped the other two receivers to the 211 with the intent of doing the DVR conversion. I purchased a third 211k, activated the DVR, hooked up a DB4 to all 4 receivers for OTA (OTA module purchased for 722k). I love the setup now.

I began with the OP that included a "possible future" explanation and had to take into account Dish's difficult policies with regard to "adding and upgrading" equipment within the first year of signing up.
I think a 722k and a 612 (or, as boba said "2 722Ks if money were no object") is a good choice as that could take care of three TVs including a small one in the future kitchen. How to deal with the future basement depends on how many people there are in the household who watch different programs at the same time. At that point the 211/211k option comes into play, but as I understand it the EHD on the 211/211k is not compatible with the 612/622/722/722k series.
