Maybe a bit of exageration, but there was a loud pop as I was jamming to Chicken Foot's version of Bad Motor Scooter, which was cranked up as you might expect. The picture and sound disappeared as did any lights on the front of the unit. It tried to restart with quite a light show of the indicators, but to no avail. Several hard boot attempts and a call to Dish yielded a RA for another one.
So now I've lost many recorded events...again! Some were archived on a EHD. I even had a laptop cooler with this one. The last one was a hard drive failure, but this one was different.
    Any similar failures out there?

A loud pop is usually a capacitor failure, FWIW.

There was slight odor in the back of it, so it could have been a small capacitor is my guess.

    Yeah, burnt chicken feet.
Looks like I'll have to re-record it and continue where I left off, only this time, louder cause Joe S. rocks!
