will a 8.0 model remote work with a hopper?

i am mirroring my hopper (i have no joeys) and i dont want to keep bringing my remote from room to room. Can i program 2 remotes to work a hopper?

if i can does it have to be a 40.0 remote? or can i use an older 8.0 remote?

The 8.0 definitely will NOT work with the Hopper.

If you want a RF remote you will have to get a 40.0

The 8.0 remote will work but only for IR, not UHF. You have to make sure IR is enabled on the Hopper.

    Press Menu
    Go to Settings
    Go to Remote Manager
    Go down to IR
    then enable it

This will make it so you can use the 8.0 remote where the hopper is at, and then use the 40.0 remote at the mirrored location.

Edit, oh also make sure the Remote is set to channel 1.
Press and hold the sat mode button till all the lights on top light up
    press 1
    press #
    SAT mode button will blink
Now it is programmed to channel 1 on the remote.

The 8.0 remote does NOT do IR for the sat function.

hmm, strange. 6.4, and 21.0 UHF remotes all work on the Hopper for IR only. Figured the 8.0 would work as well. Going to have to find an 8.0 remote to try it out.

The 8.0 remote was released with the 811 receiver. DISH eventually had to program a function in the 811 so the 811 would use its IR blaster to send an IR signal to program customers learning remotes to control the receiver.
