Push the SD/HD button 2 or 3 times. Then you'll be able to change to a video channel.

Ok, I got my 921 yesterday and love it, to a point. Is it possible to record over the air High Definition?? I have spoken to two advanced techs, and they say NO. I just don't believe a $1000 machine cannot record Hi-Def from the over the air inputs. Please help me.

This happens all the time when on ANY music channel & box turned off. When turning back on, the text generator seems to not output correctly & the 921 acts like it has no video output on component. I do not know if this also happens if in SD mode with s-video.

SIMPLE FIX. Just punch in any SD channel ie. 101. The correct video output starts, then 921 back to normal. THIS IS VERY REPRODUCIBLE. (hint, hint, ELDON guys!!)

Of course you can record OTA HD. Can you view an OTA channel? If you press the record button while viewing, will it record the OTA channel? Maybe you are having trouble with a timed OTA record? More details are needed.

YES, YES, YES YOU CAN. The tech support you talked to were IDIOTS.
You cannot record ANALOG OTA channels.

If you have an OTA antenna hooked up correctly to the 921 & OTA digital channels are scanned or added so that they are tuneable, then you can record anything that you are viewing. You can set any type of manual record timers. Since there is not yet guide data, you can not easily set a timer with one press. You can set a timer with the locals SD channel (if you have SD locals also) and then edit timer to change channel to OTA one.
Remember that OTA channels usually need a 0 in front of numbers to tune.
Ex. OTA ch 7.......press 07. Pressing 7 gets nada.

One thing to note - there is trouble with SOME OTA - depending on where you are (as in, what stations you get). This is a known issue that is being worked on. Search the forum, you'll find the details.

I finally got a tech who really wished to help me. Now I can timer record the OTA channels. Go to timers, enter 9900 and all of your scanned OTA digital channels appear. I do timed recordings, entering all the information. Why doesn't DISH have the program information on the locals like Direct does??? Oh well, I guess the 921 is not finished, yet. I first say it at the CES in 2003 and wanted one. I guess a year and a half wait is not too bad.

It's not just the 921 - there's no OTA guide data on any receivers yet.

E* is talking about this summer or so. Given their track record, that means the summer of 2006.

There's not guide info wiht Digital OTA. I don't know about the other models but both 5000's and 6000's give limited analog info for NBC ABC and CBS.
