Your completely right. I've done a ton of "research", and DirecTV just doesn't have any of my favorite channels in HD, and it seems like they don't have all that much HD in general compared to Dish :nono2: I don't care about sports, at all, I don't watch any sports, at all. Dish has all the channels in HD that the general population would watch, not just sports fanatics.

Aside from that, DTV has about the same HD content as my mother-in-laws Charter cable...nothing spectacular.

The only problem I have with Dish is that in order to get all these HD chs, (which is every channel I love in HD plus some) I'd need to get the AT250, which goes up to $70 (just for the package) after a year-more than I wan't to spend. They probably do that on purpose.

Also, Dish vs Directv: in order to get HD on both my TVs (I know what you said about the single receiver, but the 2nd TV isn't going to be in HD) they want to charge $159 upfront. For what!? They should offer an HD receiver upgrade like DTV does; I mean they don't even make SDTVs anymore...While the single receiver for 2 TVs is great, most people have more than 1 HDTV. Why get an HDTV and watch SD on it?

I forgot to add: If you prepay, you can still have auto-bill pay on your account but since you will have a negative balance, no payments will come out...

Everything I watch is in HD on DIrecTV. I laugh when i Hear about all this great hd Dish has over Direct, or Direct has over Dish. They both a have a LOT. A couple channels to one, a couple to the other. Its not wildly one way or the other for the masses, but it can be for the few. Go with what has your channels.

With that said, Dish doesn't have true MRV hd to hd that I have seen yet. Its still just rumored last time I checked. If you don't need to make a choice today, see if the hr34 is coming in the next month or so for Directv. That will be a game changer when it comes to dvrs.
