My niece was visit this last weekend. While she was here I happened to search for "Kitchen Nightmares" and up pops "Kitty Lickers 4" in the list. She really didn't understand why anyone would "lick a kitty". How would you answer that question?

Anyway, it would be nice if we had a setup option to remove the porn channels from the search list.

Not sure but I believe if you remove those type channels from your favorites list they won't appear in a search.

The search feature doesn't care about favorites or about Parental Controls. If you auto-record a search, it will pick up any show it finds anywhere in the guide regardless of whether you get the channel, like the channel, or permit the channel to be shown.

The search and autorecord feature is seriously broken.

I may be able to answer why that may occur, but I would be hard pressed to explain how they make four movies out of it.[IMG]

Welcome to the Channels I Receive nightmare!

Someday, the HR20 may filter out the porn channels that you do not subscribe to. But there are really interesting titles that will come up in your subscription package as welll.

Months ago users worked out the only really usable solution:

A Simple Channels I Receive Solution

More recently, we have refined it:

"CHANNELS I GET" Rant, Part II

Basically you just want to use your Favorite Channels Filter as, well, your Favorite Channels Filter.

Nightmare? Little dramatic don't cha think?

    To the OP...
Do you have Parental Controls enabled?

If so... those titles "should" appear as "BLOCKED TITLE"
I will have to test it when I go home tonight.

However, they should add the option like they have on the R15, where you can go one step further for Adult channels, and specifically remove them from the system completely (they don't appear at all)...

Earl It will still show the title in the search with Parental controls on but if you select it to see the times it is on then it shows the Blocked Title message.

I am with you that I wish that they would handle the adult channels the way they have on the R15 and specifically remove them from the system completely would you ask your sources if this is a planned feature in the future.

Yeah, with parental controls on, even The Sopranos showed up as "Blocked Title" for me, in the guide and my To Do List, anyway. Not sure about the search though.

I just checked and the titles are not blocked in the search. A search on "Kitty" also brings up Asian Sex Academy. Perhaps someone at D could do a little support and add a feature that doesn't allow that to occur.

A big thanks to the OP for finding this problem and pointing it out.

Many ways to skin a kitty.... DirecTV could also just add a feature that permits only channels from a certain user-definable list to appear in Search results. ;)

    Good catch, RySmith!

This turned into quite a funny thread, but as the father of a young son, a son who is becoming more adept everyday with things that have buttons, I would really appreciate it if D* could find a way to address this.

I just encountered this same problem yesterday. Was about to start a
thread until I found this old thread descrbing the exact same problem...

Is there no solution to this yet? I'll bet DirecTV will resolve this in a matter
of days, if someone alerts the Dateline NBC staff.

On the other hand, I think a DirecTV HD DVR is just as dangerous as a home
computer. Without proper parental supervision, children should not be allowed
    to use it... :D
