Also the urge to take the cover off, although Earl's pictures should relieve that one.

Hopefully the special pushed AM21 software will include any CE improvements, although it looks pretty good with 0x1F4.

This should be fun - I've never used OTA at all so I'm interested to find out if all the fuss is worth it. :p

I was going to rip the top of that sucker right off when it arrived. Now I'm much more relaxed.

The wife will be happy that I won't interrupt her Friday's for awhile with updates.

I'll just update the HR20 twice as often.

I can't wait for the AM21, and am very happy to be here!

I specifically will NOT be hooking up the OTA to my HR20, so I can look at the installation and setup and give feedback without "bias", as many HR21 owners out in the wild will be doing when the AM21 goes pubic...

As far as ripping the cover open, as long as DIRECTV doesn't hand me any internal cables to replace, I'll be perfectly content to leave the top on! :D

Any takers on when we will see the units. I'm thinking late this week or shortly after the Super Bowl,

Nah, time to get some bugs quashed before March Madness! :)

(And time to find an inexpensive terabyte eSATA drive too! :D)

Hopefully we don't miss out on too much by not downloading the CEs.

Having OTA is a great benefit. Content varies by DMA but expect more channels then what DirecTV provides locally. I am hoping that they will include code to handle low power digital stations as well.

The biggest benefit for me has been viewing PBS HD and their subchannels. Also, with bad weather you always have a backup for tv signal.

This is my first field trial, and I'm really excited to be a part of it! To be honest, I would've bought this unit anyway, as I just didn't want to give up OTA on the one HDDVR that didn't have it.
I already have a solid antenna system on the house, all wired and everything. I just need to plug it in! I'll satisfy my CE urges with the 2x HR20's and 2x H20's for now. This is a CE in its' own right, after all.
    And (sorry guys):

    BRING IT!!!!!

EDIT: I knew I was saving my 300th post for something special!

I wouldn't have. But as soon as it was announced, and Earl said that it would be field tested, I figured I'd get one. And I was right!

For many of us, Lin owns some stations in our DMA. OTA is the only way to go. That's my only access to NBC in HD. They also own the CW affiliate but I don't watch much there. :D I also enjoy Nova on PBS.

It would be nice if it showed up this week, but whenever it does, I'm ready.

Really curious as to how it performs in comparison to the HR20 and my 2 Sony's tv tuners.
