Screwed the pooch on this one...sigh...

Go Saul! I'm now rooting for you! :)

(And to all you people that are trying to yield me, TStorms sends his/her thanks...)

    Danny,
Please tell me that I'm misunderstanding the Roadblock rules. Since I didn't answer it (couldn't get Flash to show me the Season 1 pitstops), and since pratically everyone under me missed it too, everyone (except bgilmore) will start week 12 / leg 12 with my time from week 11?

With my poor performance on these questions, my chances on this contest are now done.

    Good luck to everybody!

    On a side note...

Since my answers were SOOOO SLOW this time, ff the winner does not want the computer, I'll send him/her $50 and Danny can just ship it to me.

(I'm serious here...my wee-ones would love a computer to play Reader Rabbit and Blues Clues on.)

    Again, good luck!
    Thanks.

    Danny,

For those of us playing along at home, can you clarify the second leg Yield question? It reads: "What is the time difference between contestants at the start of the final leg?" Is that between teams 1 and 2, 1 and 3, or some other combination?

I realize that it's a little late to be asking these questions, but just so I know ahead of time:

    - If there is no intermediary pitstop like there has been in the past (no likely according to spoilers), how will Q1 and Q2 for the first leg be scored?

    - For Q3&4, What are the prerequesits for "No team uses the yield" and "There is no yield...". I would assume that we must see a yield sign or hear someone say "We choose not to yield blah blah blah" in order for the former to be true and if we see no sign/hear nothing about yields then it's assumed that there was no yield in this leg (even if in reality there could have been one that was not shown). Some of the early episodes didn't show a yield even though it was assumed that there was one on every leg.

Yields - In the unlikely event that the same person wins both leg's yields and they chose to yield someone, do they get to yield them twice or does the 1-yield per person still apply and Cori and Mark get lucky and only get yielded once?

    - 2nd leg Yield - What happens if they don't show time. Is it assumed 0 time, or infinite time, or is the question null?

    - Roadblocks - I can't remember if this had been asked already or if I thought it in my head. Are the roadblockes "scored" at the end of the leg after all other questions have been scored? (Edited: Nevermind...found the voice in my head in post at the top of this page)

    - In case of the tie, does the tie breaker #1 (most participation) include optional questions such as the current roadblocks, or does it only include required questions?

Likewise for Detour 1 in both legs. I've spend the last hour trying to figure out who I need to root for to get questions wrong.

I would agree Mark that you screwed the pooch. However, depending on what happens, you definitely aren't out of the running. If I count right there are +/- 11 days up for grabs.

Since I didn't answer it (couldn't get Flash to show me the Season 1 pitstops), and since pratically everyone under me missed it too, everyone (except bgilmore) will start week 12 / leg 12 with my time from week 11?

Well, the actual rankings from Week 11 aren't final yet (still have a pending question that might change things), but assuming everyone stays the same, yes, that is exactly what happens.

Basically by skipping the question, you are "stuck" and the person behind you is able to catch up. Since I'll calculate the new times from rank #1, the effect cascades.

can you clarify the second leg Yield question? It reads: "What is the time difference between contestants at the start of the final leg?" Is that between teams 1 and 2, 1 and 3, or some other combination?

Same question that I used earlier for the yields. Difference between the time the first team starts the final leg and the time the last team starts.

If there is no intermediary pitstop like there has been in the past (no likely according to spoilers), how will Q1 and Q2 for the first leg be scored?

I guess they won't be and will simply be ignored.

Some of the early episodes didn't show a yield even though it was assumed that there was one on every leg.

If we don't see it on the screen, it doesn't exist for game purposes. What's shown on the TV is the final judge. If a website later says there was in fact a yield, it doesn't matter.

do they get to yield them twice or does the 1-yield per person still apply and Cori and Mark get lucky and only get yielded once?

The latter. Only one yield per customer. They would still win the bonus for answering the question, but don't get to use both. These yields are considered separate, despite the fact they may appear in the same episode.

What happens if they don't show time. Is it assumed 0 time, or infinite time, or is the question null?

If no answer can be determined, the question is voided.

Are the roadblockes "scored" at the end of the leg after all other questions have been scored?

Roadblocks are scored PRIOR to the other questions for each leg. Thus Mark blocked TStorms and remained in sole possession of 1st place at the start of the leg. (India was the correct answer, being visited in 3 seasons of TAR. India also had the most pitstops associated with it as well). Everyone after TStorms however, up till bgilmore, was able to "catch up" and now has a tied score for 2nd place. ;)

(Assuming the positions hold true - as I mentioned, there is still the Final 3 question that needs answered.)

Screwed the pooch on this one...sigh...

Just curious, but why did it take you so long to answer the first leg?

With the roadblock clumping, the likelihood of a tie increases. Tiebreaker one states "the participant with the greatest participation level (least missed questions) in the Unofficial DBSTalk.com The Amazing Race Contest will be awarded the prize."

"Greatest participation" seems to mean most questions answered. "Least missed questions" seems to mean most correct answers. Which of these is it? And how do the optional roadblocks count (IMO, they shouldn't sway either way).

    Regretting this yet, Danny? ;)

I didn't mean missed as in "incorrect", but only was refering to participation.

No regrets. Organizing it has been a blast. Next season will be even better.

I skimmed through the episode recaps of every episode to find where each of the pitstops were. Took awhile to get through all of them...bigtime mistake...

But, I still had fun playing, even though I made a couple of tactical errors in the game. Better watch out for me next time, though! (although if I find someone to give Danny a prize or two for the next one, I'm not sure yet if I'll be elligible to win said prizes...)

Well, I don't know who's going to win this thing, but whoever it is, congratulations!

And thanks for running a great contest, Danny. It was a real pleasure to play in, rather than run. That's a first for me! I think you did a great job, had some really neat ideas and very much look forward to the next one!

    Congratulations cdru!

According to my calculations, which may or may not be correct, you had a one day lead on me going into the final week (thanks to your picking Brandon and Nicole as coming in first in leg one). When you hit the Yield question exactly, I knew it was a really long shot for me to overtake those 3 points, unless for some reason they showed the Yield in Leg 2 (I didn't realize there was a "no yield shown" answer; I jumped right to "no one uses in", knowing before I even opened the page that that would be my answer should it appear as a question). Good job, and I take some perverse pleasure in thinking that I managed to yield you :)

Thanks again, Danny. A fun, fun game!

I came up with close to the same thing just trying to estimate where everyone was at. I didn't want to say so first, then end up being wrong and looking like an ass. I'm not going to celebrate until Danny says so officially though.

It was really close going into the last leg with me, you, Tusk, and Mark all bunched up. The lack of yield helped make up for the fact that I missed 2nd/3rd place. When I nailed the final yield on the nose, I was running all over the room. My wife told me to shut up and sit down and wait for the next commercial.

Well, I think I'm going to officially be a "putz" (according to the official rules of the game), so I'm not sure if looking like an "ass" is so bad. And when you "nailed the final yield on the nose", my wife also told me to shut up and sit down, but I think it's more because of what I was saying at the time...

I agree it was really close (although I had Mark and Tusk at seven and eight days behind me, respectively, after adding in the detour times), and I think the roadblocks did it. What Danny's got to watch out for in the next game is making sure that the roadblocks don't just reset everything each week, because then it's likely that the individual weeks don't mean much. I mean, what's the big deal about Yielding someone early in the game if you know they're going to be right back with you in the last week? I still think there needs to be some kind of elimination. But I digress.

Congratulations again! Guess I'll have to find some other way of getting myself a new comupter :crying_sa

FYI: Still working on the scoring. I'm going through all the old questions and double checking everything. Don't be surprised if I don't have the final results till the weekend.

No offense or rudeness was meant with my original comment. I'm just anxious. Other then the occasional $1 lottery ticket, I've never won anything.
