Several days ago, I retrieved my AM21 from its closet storage and installed it on my primary DVR, an HR54-700. It seems to be working just fine.

Yesterday evening, I noticed something strange in the guide listing on my bedroom HR24:

Note the 36-1, 36-2, and 36-3 channels, all digital channels NOT coming from the satellite. These are OTA channels that I see on the on the AM21 installed downstairs. Why are they appearing in the HR24 guide? So, I selected one of the channels and received this error:

Anyone know what is going on here? Why are these channels appearing on the HR24?

So, since I didn't want the guide cluttered with a bunch of invalid channels, I decided to edit the channel list. When I pulled up the editing screen, none of the invalid channels are checked to appear in my custom list:

So why are they appearing in the guide if they are not checked? I exited the editing screen, and the invalid channels disappeared from the guide! This is really bizarre behavior. Anyway, the channels are gone now, so I am no longer concerned. I was curious as to whether anyone has a theory as to what is going on here.

The Gremlins of the AM21 and there are many. I've dealt with strange behavior by the AM21 since I've had them since 2012. Since I think the HR 24,34,44, and 54 all now scan the channels into the AM21, you can expect more strange behavior. One advantage on my HR24/AM21 is you can run up to 10 different zip codes to attain guides on channels not in your home database. For instance, I'm in the Minneapolis/StPaul market. So low-power channels 14,15,25,33,49 are not in the database and have no guide. COZI is 25.3 in MSP. If I run Denver (80201) as a secondary zip it puts Denver's KDEN 25.3 in my guide, replacing the ugly (regular schedule). Denver's 25.3 is the exact match and gives me the Cozi guide on 25.3. I do this with other zip codes to get guides for Decades, Get, Rewind, Dabl, Circle, etc. because these channels are on channels that aren't in the database for MSP. Although these guides do not match the actual channel. My HR44/AM21 only lets me run 2 zips codes only, Though.

Perhaps the AM21 has gremlins, but I would not expect OTA channels to suddenly appear on a separate DVR not connected to the AM21. And the "tuner removed" message doesn't make sense to me.

    Just curious...

Could it be possible some of those AM21 "Gremlins" might have anything to do with your playlist duplication anomaly in the other thread?

Possibly. Who knows? I am currently not seeing any duplicate entries in my HR54 playlist, so that problem might be behind me. These are all minor issues, more like peculiarities. Maybe the system purging itself of the remnants of AT&T ownership...

In the settings menu, does it say just ‘Satellite’ or ‘Sat & Antenna’?

Also to get rid of the OTA channels shown in the guide of your HR24, just do a reset in the antenna setup menu, then all of that should go away.

It says Sat+Antenna (the AM21 used to be connected to the HR24). I'll definitely try the reset--forgot that was an option.

The antenna reset successfully cleared the digital channels from the HR24.
