Any chance Dish will get TNT-HD

    Why do I waste my time coming to threads thinking that the newest posts might be on topic? You'd think I'd have learned by now that a thread can't seem to get beyond 5 posts before it's hijacked.

    Moderator, please close this thread so no one else has to waste their time. Those that want to play in the sandbox can surely find some other place to go.

    BTW, anyone who wants to make himself feel better by flaming me, go right ahead.

    the man in green said something like...."The only HD channel we've heard of is TNTHD. We don't know of any other HD content out there."

    perhaps "if Al-JazeeraHD is available tell us & we'll negoitate fairly, then add it" but as of today we don't know of any other HD content out there.

    Dear Mr. Ergen:

    I wrote to you once before, soon after I had purchased my Dish Network system. I wrote that I was an HD enthusiast (and a LONG TIME DirecTV subscriber) but I had moved to Dish because you had made an active and public commitment to HD programming. I have continued my loyalty by purchasing the Dish 811 receiver despite its continuing bugs and annoyances.

    Unfortunately, it is clear to me now, based on your recent statements about HD programming, that you have made a strategic decision *not* to focus on expanding your HD offerings and instead expand your base by adding locals. To be quite honest, I feel a little "duped" right now. I envy my DirecTV friends who are able to enjoy the NBA HD games (Timberwolves-Nuggets, for example) on their system, while I am unable to see these games in HD. And, of course, I am constantly embarrassed by my friends with Voom as they describe the growth in their HD availability.

    It has been a long time since Echostar made any moves towards expanding their HD content. Rather than being any sort of "HD Leader" it is clear that you are determined to be a follower and only add more content when DirecTV does so.

    As soon as Voom eliminated their hardware purchase requirement, I inquired about moving to Voom. Unfortunately, I was surprised to find that when I purchased the awful bug-ridden 811 receiver, I had also committed to 1 year of AT60. Thus, I was locked in to your mini-HD service until the end of this year.

    While I admit you have managed to retain me as a customer because of then "lock-in," you have retained an unhappy customer. I am disappointed by Echostar's strategic direction away from being an HD leader. I am not embarrassed to admit that I am an "opinion leader" when it comes to all things audio and video. People constantly come to me for advice on what hardware and programming to buy. It is only recently that I have stopped advocating Dish and started pushing people towards Voom.

    I really am one of those people that is quick to wrote and compliment an organization on particularly good service and a strong marketing orientation. This letter, unfortunately is to express my displeasure and disappointment at Dish's direction away from broadening your base of HD offerings. I truly believe that the customers you are going to lose because of this are the ones who tend to be the "techno-enthusiasts" who are more likely to influence the decisions of others in this arena.

    I'm all for sending messages to the ceo address, but I think there's a better chance of them being read if they are kept shorter.

    Anyone care to guess how many messages go to this address? 100's? 1,000's?

    Heh heh heh. You're probably quite right. You're not the first person who has accused me of being verbose.

    I just feel this terrible urge to explain any statement I make in detail, which tends to make all my messages longer than they need to be. :D

    If Charlie's nose got bigger every time he lied and said they won't add channels, due to no compelling content, he'd never be able to leave his house. If it's all about content, then why even show any channels in color? Black and white should be just fine. :rolleyes:
