    Teays...
I went to hook up my AM-21 with my new look HR24 and just couldn't do it. Just didn't look right.

So does anyone thing there is a chance of D* producing an AM-24 to go with the new receivers?

Seems like it would be extremely easy (they just have to make a different external case, the components could all stay exactly the same), but it sounded doubtful when the subject came up in the past.

I doubt there are enough off-air customers to make it worth building a new version of the AM21. I tested my AM21+HR24 with the HR24 on top of the AM21 and it looked fine.

    Dripping...
Can you hide the AM21 behind the equipment rack/stand so you don't see it, they don't have to be stacked?

As ashamed as I am to admit it, I'm anal enough to go out and replace my AM21 with an AM24 just to have them match... :(

That being said, what would really be cool is a USB dongle version of the AM21... shaped about the same size as a DECA.

That's what I ended up doing. I got a longer USB cable than what came with it and it's working fine inside a cabinet.

I've got my HR24 set on top of the AM21. I thought they looked okay together. Now I have all black electronics instead of the silver HR20-700 that was there. I'm happy with it.

from what I recall the AM21 was mostly empty so I don't think it would be hard to pull off but I doubt it's a high priority since it is a part only used by a few of there customers and the h/hr-24's are just barely starting to be used.

Just send me an empty H24 housing and I'll make an AM-24 out of an AM-21. :D

I think we will see it someday, when with the hc30 coming out as well.. it will make sense to have a matching one eventually...

I disagree. I think DIRECTV built as many off-air adapters as they feel they will ever need. I've heard varying estimates of how many subscribers choose to use OTA and it's never higher than 5%, and could possibly be lower than 1%.

I'm guessing they get that from the dial home data? That's a pretty interesting fact. The only reason I use it is during the spring when the storms are the strongest in north Texas. It's good to have all of the locals up and running to find out how far away a tornado could be.
