I have DISH at my primary residence and DirecTV at my second rental vacation home, but recently sold that 2nd home. So when I called to discontinue the DirecTV there, I was connected to retention who offered me a great package to "move" my service to my primary residence (thereby displacing DISH). HD PVR for $550, free SD PVR, two regular SD receivers, free install, HBO 6 mos for $2, and one TIVO fee for both PVR's. I hadn't really intended to do anything but disconnect, but with a deal like that, how can I refuse? I was informed that DirectTV has two new birds in the sky and plan 150 (?!) HD channels by the end of the year?? I currently have an 801 for my HD but would sure like to be able to time shift. DISH's HD PVR's leave something to be desired from what I read, and are more expensive to boot. Best I can tell, DISH has little to no comparable retention incentives - or do they?
