Yet you're recommending someone wait for something that you 'envision' is under testing?

    His install is tomorrow.

The question was "does anyone know if DTV is coming out with a new box". Most people here know that HS27 is under development. It is a fair answer.
The question wasn't "will a new box be released this week".

For clarity, there is no sign of when the HS27 will be released. Software in the stream would be a good indication that something might be released.

Did the idiots at DTV come to their senses and design a box with a HDMI output this time? :D. And a normal form factor :D :D? And built in OTA :D :D :D? They might have kept those 2M+ customers they lost had they done that in the first place?

You really think having a pizza box with HDMI output and OTA would have kept even 1% of those customers who left? They left over price, not what your dream of what Directv's hardware should look like.

This is zero indication there is HS27 under development.. Your referencing an old manual that doesn't even exist anymore

I figured all the :D's would indicate sarcasm... guess not lol. From what I saw when my promos were falling off a month or so ago, Dish has closed the pricing gap on the promo pricing, so it's not like you're going to get 50% off vs. DTV off like you used to a few years ago. Luckily, all those people left, so DTV was more then happy to give me *better* pricing then Dish. Actually, it seems that the general consensus of people that have participated in such discussions is that the "dream" is Dish's hardware with DirecTV PQ.

If you didn't set it up to have 4K on the account, I highly doubt you will get the most recent Genie 2. Although it depends what the tech has on his truck, you will get the HR44 or HR54 with no 4K.

Btw, you dun goofed :). Tech installs are 2 yr contracts (just for you of course, no price lock like on Dish). Self installs are only 1 yr. And of course, promo pricing is 1 yr, although if you don't mind calling in, you can usually get that re-upped. But they are less likely to re-up you if they have you by the …. umm... "contracts" :D.

While AT&T and installers are tending to push wireless, that is due primarily to cost considerations and speed of installs (not having to install coax). If you've already got coax, there is no reason to go to any wireless clients, and I personally recommend against wireless.

for better video and audio quality and as well as channels on satellite are cheaper per capita. i refuse to pay over 100.00 smackers a month for spectscums select package with only 120 channels of non entertaining ******** except for female products and the freaking golden girls!!! **** that!!! and then they compress the **** out of every channel there's lots of macro blocking dont ask me how i know this as i am watching or trying to watch it on a 292 inch screen. i notice every little imperfection!!! then the signal is so bad the tv will freaking crash like it has been turned off:eek: i spend more time with a pixelated screen or a blank screen more than i do watching tv. then there's there crummy world box;). the guide is up in the cloud and if your signal just aint right then the box will lock up and freeze up on you:cool:!!! i have never delt with a company to where i had to reboot **** so many times. and they don't repair **** either:mad:!! id'e take a contract any day over spectscum!!! oh yea dish wont install on the roof where i am to since it's to high up!!! them and there dumb ass polices i am sure it's the insurance co though!!!
