I usually hear the opposite. When my brother got my parents cell phones, he was very careful to get them Android in hopes they'd be able to figure it out. He knew, and I agreed, that there was no way they'd figure out i-phones. He himself switched for a time, just to switch back due to the loss of functionality and lack of common sense.

Why does there need to be an entire page of forums at the CE site? There only needs to be two areas - an Announcements area where things are posted for the week and people can discuss the release there. The next Friday (or Tuesday), you make a new post that appears on top and people don't have to click click click scroll. Also an Issues area for the Directv people. It makes no sense to have it the way it is. Why are the announcements made in one area but the release notes are in the issues area?!?!? I am not alone - look how many people post in what the mods consider the "wrong" area and they get scolded. Why do the transponder updates need to be on that site at all? Why does everything get re-set every quarter? What is the difference between anticipation and discussion? None of it makes sense.

My goodness - this thread was created because of the disaster of the CE site. There used to be tons of people in the CE program. Since it migrated to that mess, participation is down. It is basically designed for the mods and their friends.

Things get reset to avoid sending emails to bots, and to find out how many people are actually using the site and keeping up with ce program. That’s the simple way to keep a real count of what’s going on.

This site had an anticipation and a discussion thread. One was for conjecture about what might come and what people hopes comes. It’s all fluff. The discussion thread is for the people who do the ce to discuss issues amount ourselves to help each other figure out how to get things working right, etc. issues threads are for actual reports only. This has been how it was setup for years before the site split off of this one.

The format of the ce area really hasn’t changed at all since at the new site.

The people who do the transponder stuff left this site because, well, they didn’t want to be here anymore for reasons which do not matter in this discussion.

I personally think there is a simple way to view any forum site, and it’s how I always view this forum and the other one. I just look at new posts. If I want to read it, it’s one click, I’m in. If it’s one I don’t, I hit mark as read and move on. No multi clicking on anything ever after I hit new posts...

As for the phones...first, Siri kicks ok googles butt for people who can’t see... you have to buy a phone thats way more expensive on android to have one that works without touching a button, and when you can’t see, that’s not ideal to say the least. And after testing it out, it’s not as good as Siri for consistency in my experience. Granted, both need time to learn your voice I think.

I never understand how people find Apple difficult to navigate. It does the same things as an android generally, with a few less options, and it doesn’t allow you to put apps in 10 different places to confuse you on what screen you are on. I here a lot of people want android because they like to change system fonts and stuff of that nature more. Those are things I get, but don’t ever care about, as usually those people have chosen fonts that are more difficult to read that I never would.

I’d like to know one thing you don’t think someone can figure out with an iPhone vs an android. Serious question because I really haven’t ever been able to figure that out. Especially if they mainly use it just as a phone and to text, etc.

I never CEed on this site so I can't comment on here vs there.

I would never use Siri or the Android equivalent. Pointless.

I have personally never have had an i-phone. Being forced to use other Apple products in other aspects of life sometimes has scared me away from it. Plus hearing what my brother said about them and he is very open to things like that. My good friend/cousin is a Apple loyalist and sounds a lot like you! I have tried to text someone using his i-phone and it was baffling. I understand how people send the wrong words to people and that autocorrect BS. That has never happened with my Android with Swiftkey keyboard.

In any case, 127f was never a CE, so you would not see it on that site, it just got pushed out by Directv to everyone.

If anyone has a problem with another forum it would be best to take it up directly with the people who run the forum.
The purpose of this site is to discuss satellite and other television technologies, not how other sites are operated.
