I've got Uverse TV now (had the Internet the past couple years). If anyone has any questions feel free to post.

The biggest question always seems to be HD quality. For us anyway it's great. Nearly as good as OTA and just as good as DirecTV, even with sports. Only way to know for sure at your location is to try it though. Luckily it's a free install and no commitment.

Do you have fiber running all the way to the house?

Nope. Most Uverse service areas don't. It's fiber to the VRAD box and then copper to the house. In my neighborhood there is a VRAD every 2-3 blocks so plenty of coverage.

Do you mean the plans? They start at 6 meg (actually I think they have an uber cheap 3 meg too) and go up from there in steps of 6. So 6, 12, 18 and 24 is the max. And you get *all* of that speed and it's consistent. If anything there is very little criticism of the Uverse Internet. Personally it's the best ISP I've ever had. Especially considering Charter is twice the cost for half (or less) the speed and you're lucky if you get half of what you pay for.

Interesting. I was looking at their packages and they only mention download speeds. What are the upload speeds?

Right now through Time Warner I'm getting 30 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up for $65 a month with no data cap (yet). Although U-Verse is not available in my area, I have heard it will be so I'm always looking for something better. Does U-Verse have data caps?

    Thanks.

My up is 1.5 with the 18 meg service. I plan to downgrade to 6 which I believe as 1.0 up. I could care less about up so I don't really know for sure what all the packages have. You really can't beat a good cable Internet like in a good Time Warner or Comcast system like you have. But Uverse beats the pants off the crappy cable providers like Charter.

AT&T announced data caps (I believe there is a thread in this forum on it actually) but as I understand they enforce it for DSL customers but not yet for Uverse because they are having problems separating the Internet usage from the TV and Voice usage (or something like that).

I understand what you mean about the upload speeds but after I while the speed became important after I invested in web security cameras. It also came into play when I started doing a remote desktop with my iPad. I recently upgraded from 2Mbps upload to 5Mbps upload and noticed a big difference when remotely controlling my computer. It's a bit snappier now.

I'm wondering as well. In Madison, WI with Fibre Optic. Considering a change.
