The Hopper 3 was released more than two years ago. Anyone hear any rumors about a new box from Dish to replace the Hopper 3? How soon? Features?

There are always "rumors" when they become facts then you can panic that you don't have the latest and greatest. Most announcements come at trade shows.

The latest news I heard is that it will be called the Hopper 4. Other than that, I don't have any more info.

I thought the Hopper Duo was going to be the next generation but after I saw the specs it turned into a dilution of the brand. (I wanted to see a Hopper with six physical tuners ... basically two Hoppers in one box instead of rebranding a Duo DVR with the Hopper GUI.)

The H4 will still have 16 tuners but now 4 of them will be able to record an entire TP.

One will do PTAT, one will record all the news channels one will record all the sports channels and one will record all the shopping channels. ;^)

Oh, and there will be a $7 monthly fee to activate each of the three extra full TP tuners.

Possible but it would take channel moves to put the genres on the same transponder. (But yes, I saw the smiley.)
