I just got a super deal on an Applied Instruments XR-3 and I have a DIRECTV SL3 3LNB SLIMLINE (Not SWM) w/4 connectors on the LNB. Two wires going to receiver and a third wire is a 6' pigtail from the LNB for testing purposes.
My question is: With the Applied Instruments XR-3 connected to the pigtail for alignment purposes is it necessary to power down the IRD (satellite receiver) or can it remain on while using the XR-3 for fine tuning?
    Thanks In advance.

The LNBF's output are independent, so no worry.

    at your service ;)

[I did hold in my hands a PCB from similar 99/101/103 LNBF a couple hours ago, to post info about voltage rail(s) and VRs in there...]
