Costco has the HR20 for $269... Is this leased or owned by the buyer?
It does not matter where you get it from. It will be a lease.
You would have to look at the documents that come in the box. My guess is they are leased...but read the agreement you never know.
Unless you're paying $900 for it, it's going to be a lease.
Lease. Even says so on the box.
Please dont tell me IF I were to buy a HR20 from COSTCO.......I would have to send it back to D* if I wanted to terminate my 2 year contract!!!
I WOULD NOT send it back!!!!!
NO way....it will be hard enough sending back the HR20 i received from D* themselves!!!!And I just paid $19.95 for the HR20.....
Even after your 2 year contract is up if you left DIRECTV you would have to send it back to them or you would get a bill for it.
It is a lease box, being sold by an authorized reseller.
Doesn't matter if it was from DirecTV, Best Buy, Costco, ect...
It is a leased box.
If you don't send it back, if they request it..
You will be billed the $800 per DVR
I was in Costco on Monday. There was prominent signage around the HR20's explaining that is was a leased item.
I don't remember seeing that signage in my local Costco but what I did see were two pallets of HR20-700s so if you're on the Cutting Edge or like your DVRs warm, head on over!
There is a sticker on every box that states clearly it is a lease.
In that Costco where other one HR20-700 bought, some of boxes have the sticker, some - not. Checked by myself recently.
What of the plethora of them on ebay going for ~$250?
All of them are Leases...
Unless you are paying $800+ for the unit, or can convince DirecTV that it is an OWNED receiver (which is very difficult to do especially on the HR20).
I just "acquired" an HR20-700 at Costco a couple of weeks ago, and it was very clear that it was a lease, and nothing but a lease.
When the installer came out to install my 5 LNB dish ( 2 weeks ago) he stated his paperwork lists my HR20 as owned. The CSR I talked to on the phone earlier also stated that my records show the HR20 as owned.
I purchased the HR20 from Best Buy in November. ( Who knows ???)
I got mine on ebay and I own it. Directv does not charge me a lease fee on this unit.
How many receivers to you have? I believe you'll only see a lease fee on additional receivers. I think anyone with a single leased receiver doesn't pay a lease fee.
That is correct.
Also you may have not notice the lease fee because it is not a extra charge. DIRECTV just changed the name from mirror fee to lease fee and it is the same price.
