I know there are older threads about this problem but they are 2+ years old so I’m starting a new one. I’m experiencing dropout of a second or two on just about any channel or even at times on a recorded program. I can hit the rewind button a time or two and that helps but if I change the channel it starts all over again. Very annoying. Will upgrading my receiver help. I have the HR44-500 Genie.

Perform a System Test on your HR44-500.

Should the system test come back okay -- press the Red button next to the access card and see if that changes anything.

Thanks for the suggestions. Done that several times but no improvement.

Reading this post I just realized that I haven't heard the 150dB blurb that used to randomly occur in months. DTV fixed something at some point.
Now, if they would fix the random 30 second skip issue that jumps to the end of the program instead of 30 seconds when you click it a couple of times.

Are you using a AVR with your HR44-500?

You have a Genie with an old HDD. Replace the HDD externally and your problems might go away. Sure sounds like your internal HDD is causing your problems. If this was happening nation wide we'd be seeing a lot of similar complaints. Or you could try an upgrade or a replacement. Easiest thing to do is put a new HDD in a dock and mount it on the 44. We can help you thru the process.

Rich, I may just ask for an upgraded Genie since I have the protection plan allowing me to “upgrade” every two years. MysteryMan, not sure what an AVR is? My setup is a new Sony tv and a Sonos Beam soundbar - no blue ray, no Fire Devices, etc.
