What's the best way to get help in equipment issues from DirecTV? I made the mistake of trying Twitter messages to Directv Service. They were clueless - I wrote about a VOD issue and the guy responding tells me that the HS-17 is not a 4k receiver.

    Next steps? Probably calling?

Try 1-800-824-9077 or try calling solid signal -they speak English very well

The Tech is correct it's not a RECEIVER it's a server as it does not connect to any TV

    Does it "receive" 4K?

You and I never seem to argue...let's argue. Doesn't the 17's HDD "receive" a 4K broadcast, record that broadcast and then the client, which can't record, takes that content and sends it to a TV set? That would seem, in my mind, to make it a "receiver". I do get the point you made about it not being able to feed a TV set but it's still feeding the client.

OKAY- Lets go- Everything is in the Guide -(TILL SELECTED) so the c61k Selects 104 - then the GENIE 2 pass it or records it(which that makes it a Download) (the C61) receives it .

Stop please. I have an issue with no VOD. Has nothing to do with 4k.

The CSR saw that I reported that the speed test reported that I get 4k speed and assumed that I was talking about 4k. Methinks they don't know English very well.

PS - Why would I call Solid Signal? I don't have a business relationship with them.

Last post from me on this subject, don't want to aggravate anyone. The 17 "receives" the download, but it's not a receiver? I know this is just semantics but I gotta think of it as a receiver.

Because they know what they're doing, he explained that. Did the CSR you spoke to know as much? I have to doubt that. You know at least one person that works there, ask him.

I would call DTV for sure.

Are you getting a specific error message when trying to access the VOD section?

You could try this method and see if it helps get it working after 24 hours.

    On Demand not working

Was there an update after the latest new GUI update?

I am on the new GUI and VOD works fine for me.

Nevermind, I saw you have another thread about the issue where you mentioned you tried that method.

Updates work fine for most folks. Updates mess up some devices. SOP.

Again - why would I call Solid Signal if I'm not their customer? And why would they ever respond to a non-customer?

The Can and will work within your Directv Account to help get a issue resolved - Call them and see - It's NOT like your watching VOD or anything.

You cannot become a customer anywhere unless you buy something from somebody. SS is a good resource for D* customers. When that person we both know went to work there I started buying from them, I became a customer that way and they have always responded to me. Google defines 'customer' as: A person or organization that buys goods or services from a store or business.
