I'm finding the HD feed OK (not stellar)...but the bigger joy is coming from the humor inserted by the announcers...these guys are funny.

    Southern...
Not a golf fan, but the HD pictures from the Scotland course are beautiful, rain or no rain. I just check in once in a while to see how badly Tiger is doing...

As far as I can tell from my "research", they're using the BBC video feed.

Don't like it, blame HRH Queen Elizabeth !

Somebody was in here a while ago saying that D* had the same 1440 limitation as Dish due to some aspect of achieving MP4 compression. You certainly see a difference between PPV content and regular. But maybe that's just bandwidth allocation.

D* has no 1440 limitation on MPEG4. It is totally absurd and lie. When D* had MPEG2 HD channels they were downrezzed to 1280 however and looked like crap. British Open looks they it looks because 50Hz video is lower quality than 60Hz to begin with.

Personally I am loving the picture and REALLY loving the no ads more players shown international (aka BBC) feed.

    Some people are never happy.

    Lancaster,...
I watched Sat and Sunday and thought the video was acceptable. It looked much better than last year. Having multiple feeds (like for the other Majors) was nice as well.

Well I don't think that guy was lying about the 1440, that's a hysterical descriptor, but he may have been misinformed.

Mainly the reason the Open looks the way it does is because it's in detail-free 720p.

Not that there's been anything to watch for the last couple of days anyways. Major snoozefest. Unknown guy with an insurmountable lead. All Americans playing like amateurs. That'll beat the snot out of the Neilsons every time.

    What exactly is "detail-free"?

I guess you hallucinated the detail that wasn't there. That's cool. It's like radio, you get to use your imagination.
