Yes I do use a AV Receiver but the one constant is that I have zero sound drop with the C61. Only with the C61K (both that I have tried). I think that the problem is in the delivery system because it does not reoccur during recorded playback. When it happens I can immediately replay that peice and the problem is not there.

If you feel they did not give you the proper equipment at your initial install, instead of trying to deal with an AT&T CSR, I would file a complaint through the BBB (Better Business Bureau). You will get a call from someone at the Office of the President in 2-3 days and they will help you try to get the dispute settled. I had a problem and lost the main 4K channel 104 and after almost two months of frustration dealing with the AT&T CSR's and being lied to and given inaccurate information on multiple occasions and having them replace the C61K which did not help I finally filed the complaint with the BBB. Two days later I got the call from the Office of the President and within 10 minutes he had the 4k channel working.

I would say yes you will notice a significant difference in picture quality when upgrading to 4k. The NFL games are only 1080p upscaled to 4k but still looks a lot better than the Fox, CBS, NBC, or ESPN HD broadcasts. ESPN just started doing one NCAA football game a week and it's actually in native 4k and looks amazing. NBA games have looked great as well. And the Olympics next year should be amazing. The Summer and Winter Olympics were the best 4k broadcasts I've seen probably because they were using 8k cameras. So yes you should be able to notice a pretty big difference in picture quality and the bigger your tv, the more likely you'll see a difference. I would recommend at least a 65 inch tv to notice a difference. I upgraded to a 77 inch from a 65 inch tv last year and the improvement in picture quality and resolution is even more noticeable in my opinion.

That takes me a step forward. I'm thinking of getting a 54 and the 4K setup.

I finally made the upgrade jump this week. I kept my 54 and the installer added the C61K-700 to my 4k TV.

(The installer told me he is still seeing way too many issues with the 17, and wouldn't have it in his house, for what that's worth.)

I have been streaming 4k content via Netflix, Amazon, and the Fox Sports App. The streams from D* last night on the Yankee game and the NFL were as good as, if not superior to, the streaming sources. The HDR broadcast of the NFL game was superior to the upconverted 1080p available on the Fox App.

No problems to report as yet, but it is early days. The unit did flash the latest firmware upon installation.

I say go for the upgrade. I called on Tuesday afternoon and the installer showed up at 8:15 Wednesday morning.

Look at it this way, all you would really be doing is swapping your HR44 for an HR54, and adding a C61K to replace one of your HR24s. You can use that C61K to watch HD content, everything will work the same 99% of the time when you don't have something in 4K you want to watch.

The main gain you will see from 4K is the huge increase in bandwidth provided to 4K content compared to ordinary HD content. That matters so much that no one knew Fox been producing their college football games in 1080p and upscaling for over a year, until it was revealed recently by a Directv insider. Haven't you said in the past that you think quality 1080p content viewed on your 4K TVs is almost as good as native 4K content? This is basically the same thing, where you will be getting greatly improved PQ for 1% of events you want to watch that are available in 4K, and don't need to care whether it is really 4K or not.

Worst case you don't think it is worth it and hate the client, you can return the C61K and reactivate the HR24 and be back to where you are today.

All I want from any TV is the ability to see the names on uniforms no matter how long the shot (I realize that I'm not gonna be able to read names if they are a half mile away) on the field. Last night I was watching the Chiefs-Broncos game and unless the cameras were on top of the players I could read no names. That's what would make me happy...can you read the names when you watch a game in 4K? During any sport?

Normally, I care more about the content than if the show's in 4K or 1080p. I'm fine with the upscaled PQ most of the time. But for sports I'd really like to see a better picture. It's become obvious to me I'm never gonna drop D*. I can't see any platform out there that does sports better than D* (if I could find that one elusive platform I'd drop D* in a heartbeat) and I'm not gonna settle for something I like less because I can save a few bucks.

I...think...I'm...gonna...have to make the phone call tomorrow. Now the question becomes, do I really want this enough to suffer thru a call? Gotta think about that.

I just made the call. After almost a half hour I was told I would get one 4K receiver for my home and one for my RV. Seems the CSR thinks there's a special receiver for RVs and it's the C61K! Told her she was wrong and she told me her supervisor told her what to do. I gave up. Thanked her for her time and I'm wishing I hadn't made the call. I'll try again one of these days, must be someone there that knows what they're doing.

I suggest you Just say YES an do NOT try to correct anything -- 2 months ago I had a H21 Die and Called for a replacement - after 15 min I got passed to another Tech -- He sent a replacement and told me I had to sign up for the Protection plan - I said okay -he read all the disclaimer and everything 45 min total -- SO I got the replacement and activated it -- and SO far No PP has been added to my account.

SO I suggest you just say Upgrade to 4k and smile and don't worry about all the script
