Looking for a cheap way to do dish alignment for Ka sats at the dish.

    I can pick up a H25-100 cheap.

Finding mixed info on H25-100 as SWiM only, verses compatible with SWiM or Legacy LNB. SolidSignal says it can do legacy and SWiM, and there is a thread here that says it can only do SWiM.

Anyone know for sure if H25-100 can be hooked to legacy LNB?

ABSOLUTELY, ONLY works on SWiM...obviously SS is in error!
Also...if you look at the D* recommended instructions for slimline alignment, you're really supposed to do the aligning on the 101 bird only, by doing "peaking & dithering" there. The Ka birds will then fall properly into place. (but technically you're also supposed to use an actual signal meter & not a D* receiver...just sayin')
See p 9+ of this doc:

Look for an H24. It will run on the old single LNB round dish.
It will only get the stations on the 101 sat if you go this route and they will be SD, no HD.

He's looking to align a Slimline (Ka) dish as he clearly stated...so not sure the point of using a round dish.
BUT to your other point, an H24 WILL also work on a Slimline with a legacy LNB, so that he can also get HD

if your old dish LNBF have 4 output, then SWiM switch will help to use H25

Go onto eBay and pick up the cheapest H2x you can find other than the H25. Don't worry about whether it is owned, just make sure it is working. Doesn't need a card or activation to access the satellite menu.
