I was curious if you can change your service address but leave your billing address like you can with directv? This is helpful for those of us attending college and living in a house.

    thank you

Why are you changing the service address? You're supposed to keep the service address where the equipment is.

My guess is they're going to college and want to take the equipment with them to the dorm/frat/sorority and want to stick Mommy & Daddy with the bill.

I know what I'd say if I was the parent. :nono: :nono2:

Yes you can have your bill sent any to any address you choose. You may want to check the E* website, I was able to change my billing address and even add an in care of but that was a while ago. They may not allow this anymore.

When they audit an account, do they contact the billing address or the service address? That could be a real eye opener.

If this is for legitimate purposes (like a 2nd account for your vacation home but you want the bill to come to your main house) then it can be done.

If for illegitimate purposes then we'd close the thread.

So as long as it is for something acceptable by the term-and-conditions, then you should be able to make the change online OR call and have a Dish rep help you through it.

I have never personally been audited and my billing and service address are identical but, logically it seems they would contact the service address being as that is where the service is supposed to be located. All of this is probably moot though because I am pretty sure all accounts only have one telephone number on them and that is how the audit team contacts people.

Which is against your service agreement. Dish would have every right to shut you down for that violation.

A friend of mine moved to a new area and took their dish receivers with them. They owned the equipment and had been a customer for several years. The new house was already wired for Dish Network and had wiring to the rooms they wanted, so they just hooked up their receivers and never called Dish for anything. They don't get new locals in their area but don't care really and just watch the old ones from where they lived before. They aren't really big on TV and are the kind of people that probably don't even notice where the locals even come out of. They just know they get ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.
