I noticed my timer for an OTA channel wasn't recording. I checked the timer's schedule, and it was empty. I deleted the timer. and re-booted. I selected the show in the guide, clicked the record button twice and it hung up. So I searched for the show and created a new timer, but again, nothing showed in the timer's schedule. It hasn't been that long since they got the OTA recordings working again, and the turn around and screw it up. For a work around, I created a manual timer, that works OK..

Should mention, this is the original Hopper.

Are you able to tune to OTA channels?

It is possible that you might need to remove the OTA adapter... reboot the receiver... then re-install the OTA adapter, and reboot again.

Yes, I can tune to the channel, manual timers work. I tried what you suggested, no change.

Hmm... I assume you do have correct EPG data?

When you say "hung up"... do you mean the receiver freezes? When you try and set an OTA timer, it "hangs" after you try to set it? and then doesn't define the timer? or it defines the timer but never actually records it?

"Please wait while we search for events that match your request." shows. I left it onscreen until it cleared. (I hadn't waited long enough, bfore.) It created a timer, but there were no matching events, when I checked it. This is the 10:00 news, it is on everynight.

Hmm.. And you only have this issue when you try and create timers for the OTA tuner?

Is this a channel that you have available only via OTA? Or do you have it on SAT too? I was curious if it was also available via SAT if setting a timer to record that version produced the same problems.

It's a sub channel, 8.2, not from Dish.
No problem with other timers from satellite.I do record the main channel, 8, news in the morning, off Dish.

I went through the OTA guide, it seems the problem is for sub channels only. 17.1, which I do not get through Dish, will record, 17.2 will not. Same for 3 other channels and their subs.

He has an original Hopper... not a Hopper w/ Sling... I forget what the latest original-recipe Hopper firmware is.

Interesting... that at least might be a problem that could be diagnosed easier than if it were just one sub-channel... IF there is a bug with any/all sub-channels other than the ".1" one... that might relate to how they provide the EPG for those sub-channels, which is different than how they do it for the ".1" channels.

The ".1" channels use the same EPG data as they do for the LiL that they carry... whereas, the sub-channels ".2" and beyond are using supplementary EPG data... so if there is a bug in that data, your problem might be how it would manifest.

Maybe Dish can get some traction on this soon (not the fictional "soon", but actually soon) if more people let them know. It sounds like this is a fairly easily repeatable problem, but there may not be a lot of people using OTA and trying to record their sub-channels to even notice.

Same here. Only one OTA channel will not record. Manual or set timer recording.
