All my phones at home make the noise still. But my work one doesn't. Hard to dial without hearing the noise! :)

    From the above link

The Esquire story gave three of the frequency pairs, from which anyone with half a brain could figure the other nine. It also claimed that the referenced Bell Systems Journal with more information had been removed from most libraries, but I found it in all three libraries I checked.

As I recall, that Esquire article mentioned "Peggy" from the detective show, Mannix, as one of the celebraties busted for using a blue box.

    ...and, from:
The whistle frequency was 2,600 Hz. I had a friend who could whistle that frequency. As I recall, the person at the receiving end of the call had to blow it within five seconds of his picking up the phone, which would confuse the billing equipment such that it would not be able to determine that the call had in fact been answered.

I don't remember the Ramparts article, which is strange, because I'm sure I was a subscriber back then, but the simple wiring diagram for the black box can be found in, "Steal This Book" by Abbie Hoffman.

As I recall, the only electrolytic capacitor of the recommended capacitance value that Radio Shack carried at the time had too low a voltage and would blow, but a few months later, Shack introduced a higher voltage version, introduced by a catalog entry that said, "...by popular demand!"

This is really funny how people will sue for everything. One day someone will sue over a commercial or maybe they already have.

People must learn that sometimes they will make things sound really good just to sell. That's the point of selling.

Not at a $2.47 settlement to each member of the class, unless, of course, you're the lawyer. ;)

I did get a good one ... once. I had a T-Mobile internet card for my laptop for about two years. I paid about $40 a month for the service. A couple of years after I cancelled the service, I got a letter in the mail saying there was a class action against T-Mobile for overcharging for the service. I'd had that happen a couple of times, but called their customer service and had the charges reversed each time.

Anyway, a while after getting the notice, I received a check in the mail for $400!

I think that's got to be a record payment, except, of course, to the lawyers. I receive notices on a semi-regular basis about this settlement or that settlement and they have ALWAYS gone in the trash. I've never claimed my "prize".

that is true! The last time I tried to buy ccpb, they were sold out so I bought the store brand of ccpb, the clone version :D, it is better, more peanut butter flavor! I prefer the store brand now!

"You buy the stars: the holes are free!"

Inneressin' concept. So if they don't include any holes, you can't sue because you hadn't actually paid for them anyway.

I did. Tried it exactly once, got my mouth torn up, and never ate it again. As my dear old Dad used to say, "Food isn't supposed to hurt." That's also why I don't like stuff that's really spicy.

But anyway, if that suit didn't work, maybe we can sue because Cap'n Crunch isn't a real Captain? Although I'd like it better if we tried it for Captain Morgan...
