I didn't remember him in that so I checked.

    I can't believe that show lasted 3 1/2 seasons.

I must have tuned out before he appeared.

It was pre DVR days, so I was limited to my 2 VCR's.

I am a Nathan Fillion fan too since 2 Guys and a Girl and thought that Firefly was a terrific series. It's good to see that he has that same sarcastic/tongue in cheek attitude in Castle as he did in Firefly.

Unfortunately, it always seems that shows he's in don't last very long. What was that illegal car race show he was in? I thought that role was great for him, too, and it lasted what, maybe 5 episodes?

Although the police tactic used in Castle are really, really bad, I can look past that if the show and plots themselve are strong, which it appears to be.

I've only watched the premiere so far, but this show has potential! :)

Watched 2 episodes last night. Has potential, but so far hasn't grabbed me like the first episodes of Life or Mentalist did, e.g. IIRC, both those shows hooked me in the first 5 minutes!

That said, Life on Mars, another favorite, didn't wow me at first either, so I've learned to be patient. :) /steve

I've seen the first two episodes and really enjoyed them. Like many posters in this thread, I'm a fan of Fillion's from Firefly and other shows. The cast has good chemistry and the family relationships are interesting, but I'm concerned that the setup - an author tagging along with the police - will wear thin after awhile.

I was not going to watch the second episode based on the first(all stories based on what he had already written). Then I saw the preview of the second at the end and saw that was not the case. I always give a show that I MIGHT like 3 episodes and then it is a yay or nay....it has grown on me and is now a regular DVR recording.
    Sexual tension there already!

My guess is that Castle will be hired as a police department consultant, similar to Patrick Jane (Mentalist) and Adrian Monk (Monk).

    And a little slutty.;)

Really liking the show, it has consistently moved up our priority list. Not quite a watch it almost live, but it won't age a week.

It's a fun show, but they need to play with the formula a bit. After just for episodes its pretty obvious that we're going to get three or four twists and then loop back to someone you didn't suspect.

Otherwise known as the basic plot premise of pretty much all procedurals. ;)

Although, I guess we should not forget about the variation of going to 3 or 4 suspects and twists, then loop back to the original suspect after all.

I am liking the show so far. My wife and I watfch a ton of procedurals and both thought this was a little different way to do the genre.

True in house too. At least we don't have to watch techs in fictional crime labs using tens of millions of dollars of scientific equipment. I expect to see on eBay sites the cities of Miami and New York selling some of this stuff given the state of the local economies.;)

As if they were reading this thread:
    • Tonight the police had no face recognition software and had to wade through files of pictures much to Castle's surprise.
    • Though the procedural process was typical, we learned tonight of Detective Beckett's backstory which framed an ongoing subplot.
    Good episode.
